It's called government contracts, there's rules since we joined the EU, gone (mostly) are the days when you could use a bung.

Its a race to the bottom, missus, or bus in her case, so to speak

How much did they charge, how much did the new tender charge?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 53,028 ✭✭✭✭ButtersSuki

Yes, because the new provider wouldn't be able to read a map or use a sat nav to figure out the route.

The trick with tenders is ONLY price whats on the specification. Its usually a disadvantage to know the job, better having no knowledge of it when tendering.

Do they ever reveal the contract amounts once they are awarded and a comparison with the other tenders?

My uncle got a job driving special needs adults somehow. He was supposed to bring them off for the day but instead was driving them to the local pub and spending the day-out money on pints for himself and crisps and TK lemonade for them. All had a great time, til he was found out

Yep, welcome to the real world of the small business. Been there, done that with public tenders - seen ridiculous feedback from some civil servants who clearly have little idea of what they're assessing.

Best avoided, if at all possible.

    Irish Escort?

Just because you have been doing the route for years, does not mean you have a 'right' to keep doing it. Especially if your price is higher !! I'm surprised they even gave consideration to route knowledge. Most government tenders I now encounter are 100% price

Didn't Blur have a song about tenders?

Back to the Bould Ivor - I'm utterly flabbergasted he saw fit / had the gall to challenge the decision to deny his early release. If I were him, I'd have kept my head down and been grateful I only got a 5 month sentence and just served it out.
What a fine example of a man - a totally upright individual and a wonderful human being.

So it was cheaper to go with the competition, case closed, why did this even make it on the radio?

    Love me tender,
    Love me route,
    Never let me go.
I have drove the road complete,
    And I love it so.

    Love me tender,
    Love me bus,
    My students daily fill,
For my job, I love you,
    And I always will.

It all goes back to 1 or 2 mega crashes that killed people with dodgy workmanship that punishes them all.

Ivan Calorie is a great man. Sure wasn't he teaching the prisoners how to debate and he's a very fit man don't you know - he cycles and walks regularly.

transparent ? if they reveal the price each time it would turn into a race to the bottom for each company tendering. they have to keep prices submitted someway hidden for fairness of the companies involved in the tendering process

You're only as good as your last job Missus these days - there's very little loyalty out there.

have we discussed the 80k for the new carpet for the mansion house and the 5k "consultancy fee" on how to fit it?

We should be grateful Joe is off. He'd have been wurried abour de psychological impact of the change of bus and driver on de childers with differences.
