according to posters on Digitalspy there is the possibility the AMC will be available as part of the BT sport pack on sky for 19.95. I wonder will a similar arrangement happen here and it become available on the Setanta pack? It definetly wont be on Sky for now.

Thanks for your email Keith. AMCtv is not part of the Setanta offering here. I understand that to be a UK only deal that applies to the BT TV service.

Not available in Ireland as far as I know :( .. I would imagine there are rights issues with RTÉ and TG4.

Looks like its launching August 31 in the UK. Premier of Fear the walking dead. Only available on BT youview.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,854 ✭✭✭lertsnim

I hope this doesn't launch here. That would be another excuse for a price rise. Any programmes on it will be picked up by an Irish channel.

Considering that it is testing on satellite atm I doubt it will be BT Youview only.

It doesn't look like it is launching here - this will make it one of the few UK TV channels not available here in any way shape or form.

Yep, this along with Premier Sports (well just the GAA bit) would be among the only channels not available here.

Strange one. I wonder does AMC hold Irish rights to any of the programmes?

RTÉ have walking dead rights (that might include argue new spin off) and of course TG4 had Breaking Bad... This could very well why we won't be getting it.

forgive my ignorance but if it is only going to be available to bt tv customers why would it be testing on astra?

It's like the local uk tv channels that are broadcast on Satellite that are blocked outside their intended region so I suppose they will do the same with amc and limit it to bt customers in the uk.

Apologies it will be free to customers in the uk who subscribe to the bt tv platform and to customers who pay for the bt sport back on the sky tv platform.

What does this mean for Fox TV that broadcasts (or broadcasted) Walking Dead the day after it premiered on AMC in the states?

It will have no impact, that will continue as normal. It's just Fear The Walking Dead that FOX do not have the rights for.

AMC has been added to epg no 192 for BT sport customers in the uk but has not been added to the irish epg as was predicted. I have it tuned in through other channels and I can now view it as I have the Setanta pack. Apoligies I can't remember tne frequency for tuning it in.

Is there an HD Channel. According to BT there is? EPG channel 381 (Uk)

Now that may be BT TV EPG and not sky?

Some FAQ; (For the UK mostly as no ROI details have been announced yet.)

    When does it launch?
AMC from BT launches 28th August 2015. Programmes start at 7pm.

    How do I get AMC?
    Sky UK: Channel 192 (SD)
You need to be a subscriber to the BT Sport Pack on Sky. AMC is currently offered to subscribers "at no extra cost."

BT TV: Channel 381 (HD), 332 (SD). As of 18/08/2015, not all BT TV customers can see the channel yet.
You need to have BT phone, broadband and BT TV (e.g. a BT YouView box). AMC will be one of the channels that you receive streamed through your internet connection (the same way BT Sport is provided to your box). AMC is currently offered to subscribers "at no extra cost."

    What's on?
Opening night schedule - 28th August
    7:00pm Dan in Real Life
A widower finds out the woman he fell in love with is his brother's girlfriend in a breakthrough film for Steve Carell.

9:00pm Confessions of a Dangerous Mind
An adaptation of the cult memoir of game show impresario Chuck Barris, in which he purports to have been a CIA hitman.

    11:15pm The Killer Inside Me
Everyone figures Lou Ford, a small-town deputy sheriff, to be a normal, good-old-boy kind of regular Joe. But no one knows about 'the sickness' that drives him to kill.
    .
Fear the Walking Dead will premiere on 31st August at 9pm
Rectify will follow on 1st September at 9pm.

When will the channel be on air?
At launch, the channel is scheduled to broadcast from 7pm and through the night.

    Will AMC launch in HD?
    Sky: No.
BT TV: Yes, on channel 381.

    Is there a +1 channel?
    No.

    Is AMC on Freeview?
No. It will not be on Freeview.

But you'll be able to watch the series premiere of AMC's Fear the Walking Dead on BT Showcase, Freeview channel 59 on 31st August 2015, as part of a promotional campaign by BT to raise awareness of the new AMC channel.

BT Showcase has its own FAQ - more information here.

    Is AMC on Virgin Media?
    No.

Is there going to be an on-demand service?
Yes, but for BT TV viewers only.

That opening night schedule looks awful. We won't be missing anything here

no its not part of the setanta pack on satellite

the channel will be blocked on 'other channels' from 7pm on monday

BT Ireland is Sky's wholesale broadband provider
That is the only chance of seeing it on a Irish EPG

we seem to be entering an era of american channels launching to a UK only audience. First it was Spike TV and now AMC TV.

at least with spike you can watch on other channels and if you have a freesat box it is on the epg.

We should never be grouped with the UK to begin with when it comes to tv rights for that reason alone.
