Aha, I kinda cheated getting my mammoth, it was stuck between a rock and some trees ha. They take forever to knock out though, I thought I was gonna run out of arrows before I knocked it out.

The few scorpions that I have come across seem ridiculously fast.

There's an island up north that seems to be crowded with scorpions, sabretooths, carnos and raptors. Dangerous hole. Won't be back until I get a flyer again.

That's probably death island. Up the top north-east corner? Yes it's a dangerous little spot. But it's also the location of an Artifact.

That's the one. What's an artefact?

Also how do you improve your armour? I've found apprentice armour with higher ratings and such but no idea how to craft them myself.

Artifacts are used to summon bosses. Only current one is the Broodmother afaik. Big nasty boss type spider that you'll want a very high Rex or similar to kill.
They're spread out in different caves around the map.

As for the BP - what type of armor is it? If hide or cloth you just need the BP in your inventory with the required materials. Click the BP and click craft item from your list.
If Chitin the BP and materials need to be in a smithy - then same thing
If Flak - put BP and materials in a Fabricator with gas, turn on Fab and then same as above.

There seems to be different levels of the same armour. The chitin I craft is armour level of 50 but I found a blue chitin leggings which had an armour level of 74.999 and was called "apprentice chitin leggings" sorta like you can level up your crafting skills or something.

Yup there is and the armor / durability values can differ too.
Weapons differ in attack power and durability. Also saddles for armor too.
Each can be found in different beacon drops.

Basically though Primitive (grey) > Ramshackle (Green) > Apprentice (Blue) > Journeyman (Purple) > Mastercraft (Yellow) > Ascendant (Red, but not in game yet I think)

Obviously the higher the item tier - the more expensive it is to craft.

That death island has some nice supply drops if you can get in and out of there before the inhabitants eat you, tricky enough as it's loaded with all kinds of horrible gits.

Kells, which side of the mountain did you die on? Went looking for your flier last night but couldn't see it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 381 ✭✭TheKells

No idea, I think it might have been the south side as I was coming back towards home when I spotted the mammoth. Went out in my raptor trying to locate it and for some reason the raptor kicked me off and a trike ended up killing me after a dilo had blinded me!!

Has to be the most frustrating game for finding things after you die.

Do you go up past the monolith thing on your way to the mountain or do you pass my place? Trying to figure out your route so I could find it for you on a fly over.

I was on the way back from the death island and had cut towards the middle while flying back to my base. I had stopped on top of some mountain that had glowy crystals then came towards a blue supply drop in the southern direction.

If you see it then happy days but don't worry about going out of your way for it. Could be eaten now, I had it set to passive so it wouldn't get into any fights but from reading this morning it seems that doesn't mean they run away like I had hoped.

I'm gonna go get my raptor now and then have a wee search while building up to get another flier. I have a friend planning on joining soon so will need a second one anyway.

I'll be on soon as I finish cooking lunch so I'll keep an eye out as well.
I'll be up that way looking to tame a doedicrus thingy anyway all going well.

Like I said, mine was up the mountains for a few weeks before I stumbled upon her, I had thought she was long dead.

i have a load of them just south of my base through that pass where the stream runs.

Have you saw the spot where the river runs red? bit strange.

Must check it out, I went north and nothing but raptors, rexs and argentavis everywhere so couldn't even land.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,940 ✭✭✭Tazzimus

And got one, just need a saddle now and everything will be in stone soon enough.

Got talking to some dude south of Kells place while I was exploring waiting for the dino to tame as well, found laviski's metal bunker as well ha.

Is that the big ass one he has off the coast in the water? Or does he have another hiding away?

Is that his as well? The huge one with the turrets?

He has a much smaller one across the river from you up on the cliff face.

Had to fly back along the coast with the Doedicrous following me, talk about tense.

Aye that's the one, signs up warning that trespassers will be shot, as if it's an military base.

I haven't even noticed his base near me. I clearly don't pay enough attention while playing this game!

Pretty much directly across from you on top of the cliff.

There's a big wood set up and then a mini metal bunker just in front of it.

You see the one down south from you? Fairly impressive.

I haven't even, the draw distance for bases in this game is appalling, I'm pretty much on top of them before I see them.

Have a carno knocked out so taming him up now

I'm still quite reluctant to try knocking out the bigger/faster carnivores, depending on how easy the carno are to knock out I might give it a go though.
Really want a scorp next though, they'll help immensely

It helps when they are trapped in a group of trees! Took about 10 arrows, it's a level 20 carno. I'm too low level to saddle it up but couldn't resist trying to tame it.

Taking ages to tame now though.

Scorps are not as helpful as you might think at KOing stuff. They're ok... only ok.

KOing stuff is still pretty simple. Just walk backwards. It's still effective.
Also when KOing, only shoot every 4 seconds or so. Don't just unleash a barrage of arrows at something. You'll only kill it before torp rises enough.
Also if a bow, do not draw back fully.

Carnos are easy to KO. They don't hurt too much. Or as I've said before, build a trap for them. Easy.

i remember trying to set up some wires for lights, and the thing with wires is you cant see the bloody things in the floor tiles so i started knocking crap down to run the wires around. they should fix that.

That's why you see raised wires everywhere. It's too annoying to keep them at ground level so the first thing you do is use a raised wire out of the generator so you can see where you're putting it.

Agree though, they need to implement a better system for that and water pipes.

What server do you all play on, if I may ask? Server I play on at the moment tends to get laggy at regular intervals.
