You’d be contacted by March for a may start I’d say . Maybe some of the lads from the last vlsss might know ? I do know the last class was rushed to get it started

So class 1 were contacted not long after Christmas & it started 27th April . They rushed the start date because of COVID. I think because class one going so well that they’ll run another in the summer. Nothing confirmed yet. New lads are struggling to get 3rd man hours done on the ambulance because there’s 100+ currently out on COVID leave . The job needs more firefighters

The panel wasn't announced until 10/2/20. AFAIK they weren't contacted until mid March

How do you go about applying to the DFB? What is the recruitment process?

Anyone hearing a few rumours of late?

Hoping the proposed extended lockdown doesn’t affect things too much

Lockdown extended until end of April at the earliest. Let's hope they still take the next class soon

Lockdown/covid shouldn’t effect the class starting as they ran the 1st class off your panel last year . They need a class but it’s up to dcc & the chief . Nobody knows for sure what’s happening yet .

They got 48 recruits through the first and 2nd lockdown so it shouldn't be an issue.
DCC will make the final call. It has to happen soon as manning is critical. Be patient, you will get the shout when you least expect it

I've heard rumours that it's gonna be May or June but nobody knows fire sure. Like Johnny Rotten said it will happen when we least expect it, let's hope it's soon

As the butcher says, no rumours.

Heard June / July today from an officer.

  • Registered Users Posts: 105 ✭✭TheButcher

The last class were all contacted around early March for a 27th April start . This was rushed along so if it’s June you should be contacted in April

Also heard June July in work today. Class of 36 rumour also

Would that mean 26 from Panel and 10 escs?
Or 36 from panel and 10 escs to make 46 total? I woulda thought it would be same as class 1.

Does anyone know what number on the panel they finished on?

They took 38 from the panel but got up to 42 with deferrals. So afaik number 39-42 are in the next class .

I’d fully expect about the same for the next class . They’ll call the next 38-40 from panel and then add the escs on to make a class of 48.

Many thanks, I need to keep everything crossed and hope for a few deferrals on this one as I'm number 80.
