Do you ever ask your parents about their sex life?

Do your parents openly discuss their sex lives with you or do you ever ask about it - things like what they enjoy, how often they do it etc?

Some people have a much more open relationship with their parents than others.

I actually know a lot about their sex life, we're very open. A lot of it would be in a jokey way, but not all.

We're all very open, I'd even know about my brothers and sisters sex life :o

Aside from asking where I was conceived (they didn't remember), No.

I suppose if you're gay, and you have to come-out to your parents, thatcounts as talking about your sex life.

I mean imagine walking over to your lovely old mum as she's kneading the bread, and saying, "I give it to Lucy up the arse, you know?". How odd.

Yet gay people are expected to report back on what they enjoy doing, even if they're not in a relationship yet. Maybe that's a bit strange, if you think about it.

God no. I did find some err videos and photos of my Dad and his wife on my Dad's laptop when I was a teenager. He could have at least made a special folder for them. Traumatised!

Being gay isn't just about the sex, you know?

My parents only had sex once. I was born as a result. They didn't enjoy it. It was a purely practical arrangement.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 8,635 ✭✭✭Pumpkinseeds

I've never had a conversation with my parents about sex. The closest I got was when my mum left a book called Girls Growing Up on my bed when I had my first period and then a week later she asked me if I had any questions, naturally I was mortified and said no. It'd be as weird as discussing my sex life with them.

Why in ever living fu©k would ye want to know what constitutes "slap and tickle" for your parents!?!

    Really,why OP?

I'm genuinely intrigued with your deviant thought processes. I cannot fathom why ye'd want to know what they get up to behind closed doors. Did they not have "the talk" with and your confused about the mechanics of insert tab p into slot v?

I think it probably is, since there's no such thing as a female or male personality, and our respective anatomies and physical features are the primary determinants of gender-specific sexual attraction.

Otherwise, you'd have straight men falling for every feminine man on the block, and gay men falling in love with lesbians. Chaos!

    Anyway perhaps that's off-topic.

I'm still psychologically scarred from 'The Talk'.

I'm not going to go looking for more trauma with that still on the boil. :P

God no, having the bedroom next to theirs from the age of 7 to 18 was enough to scar me for life!

I'd actually class that as a big fat neon-flashing indicator that someone is a bit bloody weird and best avoided, if they openly discuss their sex lives with their parents.

It's bloody weird. Weird weird weird.

Lol, my friend's daughter did something similar a few years ago at around the same age. I was at their house one day and she was showing me all her toys. She was big into Winnie The Pooh at the time and brought Tigger over to show me, then said "Daddy is like Tigger, this morning he was bouncing on Mummy" :D

Eh no, and I'd consider my relationship with my parents very open. Sex as a subject (dirty jokes and so on) is grand, actual details about our own sex lives, no way.

Me and my sister probably know a bit too much about what the other gets up to though. Actually I don't tell her too much but she tells me everything. EVERYTHING.
