So does anyone here own a Umi super? It looks good but the reviews I'm reading mention poor GPS and poor camera, despite the 13 MP designation. I couldn't live with that. I might try my luck with getting an telephone P9000 and how I get one with a stable sim tray.

Any other recommendations in the 200 to 250€ mark, stock android?

I own it. The UMi Super camera through the stock app is fine. I have heard that through some third party apps quality drops but I don't really use any so cannot confirm or not.

As for GPS well I also don't use this often so can't tell ya!

GPS and Camera arent a push for me, some people over react to little things.

I think its a case of people expect everything listed on the specs to work spectacularly. Even big branded phones don't always do this.

Chinese phones always have a flaw tbh.

I think this is a case of phones in general but we scrutinise the ones from China more.

The Redmi Note 3 has no flaws really does it?

Definitely. My Jiayu s3 is still going strong. Its been updated to android Marshmallow - 3 different options. Nougat on the way. There are still some small flaws with certain factors but I'm still happy with it as the development is ongoing. Marquee phones from the big boys don't get issued updates to fix their flaws as expected.

drop them an email with your tracking number, they usually respond fairly quickly.

So turns out there was a letter at reception this morning from the Revenue Commissioners Custom office...they just forgot to ring me to tell me!!
I had to email in proof of purchase plus the value of the package, with a reference number.
Total customs due on phone including 'handling fee' - €47.98 to be paid in exact cash/postal order/cheque upon delivery which may be tomorrow or Monday.
Only other issue is that I'm in the hospital tomorrow morning with an overdue pregnant wife who is ready to go any minute so I've to figure out who I trust with €50 and a brand new phone!!!

I got a Kopnson (?) battery for mine, does the job .. longer life than the standard one. Bigger battery would be ideal but I'm happy with knowing how much life I get and manage it accordingly.

Lol, i expect that if a phone is advertised as having a feature, that feature will work. I suppose, this is just another example of Paddy being happy with whatever oul sh1te he's handed and being grateful for it because he can brag that he got a 'mighty bargain' on it... What's the point in a phone having a GPS feature if it doesn't actually work properly?

Each to their own, I'll continue my search and digging into reviews to see if there's any sign of these issues being fixed :)

Because some of us can read road signs :/ I Dont buy a phone for GPS or a camera they are just bonuses to me, I use my phone as a daily phone/text/browser/mp3 etc

You're buying a phone for a much reduced price. If you want near perfection, go off and spend 800 on a Samsung s7.

You'll have to compromise on something with nearly all Chinese phones.

As a general rule - Mediatek and GPS don't mix well.

Although I think some Mediatek phones have worked well with GPS, think I had one but am not sure which one it was. I have the P9000 at the moment but have not used the GPS much (the young fella plays Pokemon go on it though and I think the Pokemon come to you sometimes instead of you having to go around looking for them!!).

Hi all, my Xiaomi Mi5 won't start anymore (6 months old), its charging & can enter Fastboot/Connect Device (Recovery Mode, gif showing connect cable to phone on a black screen) but isn't booting. I started getting some weird push messages/spam and after I turned it off it won't boot.

Can anyone advise how to flash a new rom? My problem is no pc/mac will recognise the device when connected. Any ideas?

Received my Xiaomi Mi5 today from Oppomart. Will a normal factory reset remove any bloatware, or should i do a hard reset? Also how can i check if there is bloatware on the phone? Thanks! :pac:

Do a factory reset and see if it removes anything.
NoBloat will remove some also, but you may have to manually remove most.
If you're not sure what to remove look up "android bloatware list", and some good pointers here:

I'm still waiting for OTA for my jaiyu s3s, still on 4.4. Still going strong.

You'll be left waiting!! Jiayu farmed out the rom development to Jiayu.de developers - that's who is releasing the roms via XDA

Yip I know, but not wanting to pay for something jaiyu should be pushing out OTA.

The Samsung S7 isn't perfect either. It's a fantastic phone but has average battery life, average speakers, and annoying software.

Pay for which? an updated rom or a new device?

TF Xtreme is the only rom that gets OTA updates for S3.
I don't think you will see OTA updates going forward.
