    Hi MrDiy Fan,

    Thanks again for the recommendations.

I looked at the Leeco x800 and the gist of the reviews etc seems to be it's a good but somewhat flawed phone (e.g. poor GPS) which is over a year in production. It does seem like a lot of phone for the money but I cna't seem to find it for sale anywhere online other than a guy selling one on Adverts for €239.

Would the forthcoming Redmi Note 4 be worth waiting for as the higher end phone I'm looking for? http://www.geekbuying.com/item/Xiaomi-Redmi-Note-4-Pro-Helio-X20-3GB-64GB-Smartphone---Silver-371576.html

I really like the look of the mi4c but the front facing camera is only 2mp and it doesn't have an expandable SD card and that's important to me.

This XIAOMI Redmi 3S looks a good option, http://www.geekbuying.com/item/International-Version-Xiaomi-Redmi-3S-2GB-16GB-Smartphone---Dark-Gray-371582.html or possibly the pro version with 3GB RAM and 32GB storage http://www.gearbest.com/cell-phones/pp_349208.html. They both have a 5mp front camera and expandable SD card. Any reason I should go for the Redmi 3S or Pro as the "medium" performance phone?

I'd like to see more chinese 5.5" phablets come with a Stylus (even if it was just a plain stylus and didnt act like an S-Pen) - but I dont think I have seen any on these chinese sites to be honest - be cool if a chinese firm brought out a SG Note 7 phone out with a 32GB /2gb Ram Mediatek chip (to keep costs down)

Redmi 3 pro 5 inch is a nice phone with 2 day battery life, I usually still have about 20% battery left after 2 days use. I have the 32gb/3gb version and the performance is excellent. Only complaint is the lack (so far) of a miui 8 update.

MIUI 8 is available for this phone with weekly updates I'm on my 4th weekly update to MIUI 8. Only gripe I have with it is the Ulster bank app doesn't work with it. Great phone so far battery is great fingerprint scanner is good too. I thought I wouldn't use it and I would be a gimmick but I was wrong.

Does anyone know if the Leeco x800 can be updated to Android 6.0?

Yeah, ulster bank and tunein radio are not working for me. Would you mind pointing me in the direction of where you downloaded miui8 please?

I don't recall seeing a 6.0 ROM in my search. But that was 2-3 months ago so we may have one since.

    Tbh I didn't find a difference from 6.0 on a Mi3 to 5.1 on the X800

Dropped my UMI Super on concrete and it unfortunately landed face first. Crack across the screen near the top means anything below the line doesnt work. Basically can only see notifications.

Bit disappointed as it wasn't a big fall and the phone boasts Gorilla Glass. Anyway I've ordered a new screen and touch pad off of Aliexpress for around 60 euro and hope to fix it myself.

This is what annoys me.. I had set my eyes on the UMI Super now and was going to replace the Ulefone metal with it.. until I found some German websites that suggested UMI only put Gorilla glass in the first batch of phones (to send out to reviewers) as there were quite a few people complaining how easy it is to break the UMI screen..

Every time I think, hmmm, that sounds like a nice phone, there is something that puts me off.

I had the Umi Zero. The screen on it was very strong, never used a screen protector, and no a single scratch on it.
Dropped it and cracked the back glass panel but all the other times i dropped it not a scratch to the front screen.

After 3 weeks of usingthe Redmi 3S Prime (32GB) I can say that I really like this phone, value for money is fab!
Only annoying things so far: Ulster Bank fingerprint login doesn't work and the phone reboot itself once/twice a day, this last issue is actually annoying (anybody having the same?)

It's a great screen apart from the strength of it tbf, looks great and feels good to touch too.

I also wouldn't be too angry if the bloody thing didn't stop working below the crack!

The reboot issue seems to be a big thing over on the Mi forums. No solution as far as I can see which is a little disappointing given Xiaomi's reputation for quality

Android 6.0 came out for it a few weeks ago. Not much difference to be honest. Wifi is still pretty poor on this phone so be aware of this if you're set on ordering it. Ordered my new screen for this so hhopefully should have it in a few weeks.

Think I'll wait for the international version of the Redmi Note 4 to be available and go for that as the high performance phone.

The x800 is a great phone except for the terrible wifi and its obviously hardware related as no software update has fixed it yet.

Did it fully discharge? Does the charging LED light up?

Press and hold the volume up and power on key for 30 seconds and see if anything appears.

No light or anything when charging. Charger is working as I used it with another phone.

Have tried to Volume Up/Down but with no luck

Do you know if it had any battery left? It could be a case of leaving it plugged in for an hour or so and see if anything happens.

Tried that, no luck. I dont think it was dead. It was the morning when i realized it wasn't working.

Very frustrating, someone on google+ mentioning taking the battery out might do the job, might give it a try

That's the only post relating to the issue I could find too, hopefully it works!

Looking at the UMI touch and THL T7 as the Oukitel wont charge properly, I doubt anyone has had the T7 but Ive had THL's and they are solid enough but has anyone had the UMI? Whats it like and how does the battery hold/charge times etc.

    Hi Folks,
Since I need to save some cash (and due to the uninspiring lineup of mid to high end smartphones here), I started looking at Chinese smartphones instead.

In particular I am looking at the Xiaomi Mi5 which has some superb reviews and specs.

    I have a few questions:
    1) What are peoples general opinion about this handset?
    2) I was thinking of the middle offering 64gb version. Should I push the boat out and get the Ceramic "Pro" version?
    3) If I import from China, how much would I be stung for import duty? I can get it around €310-€350 from China inc postage.
    4) However, I can get it for $414 (€370) from Honorbuy which is a Xiaomi reseller with an EU warehouse (so no import duty).

I am also open to other handsets of a similar price if anyone has any suggestions.

    Thanks in advance :)

Specs wise why would you touch the THL T7? I know the battery would be immense on it but is it really worth it for that ****ty software and probably terrible screen quality?

I had been looking at the THL T7, but it has no gyro (for VR stuff), and no NFC (if that matters).

I was looking at the Mi5 aswell, you can get the 64Gb version for $350 on Oppomart.com. They can deliver from an EU warehouse for $20 which is cheaper than delivery with Honorbuy. I haven't used them personally so you may want to check for the experience of others with regard to this site
