What new rules would you impose on After Hours?

    (1) Users are not allowed to post in After Hours until they have a post count of 50 or more.

    (2) A "Random thoughts" thread, for people to post their random thoughts. Besides being useful on its own, also in an attempt to stamp out the endless amount of nonsense threads being started.

    You?

Ban any mention of travellers, dole or prison sentences.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 3,263 ✭✭✭Gongoozler

If a thread has been done in the last 6 months you can't start another one on the same topic.

Keep it lighthearted and fun,to many threads descending into some serious sh*t.
I look at ah for a giggle and some banter, not a lecture ffs.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 803 ✭✭✭jungleman

We need a dedicated Diarrhoea sub-thread in AH. Not enough open discourse about this deadly liquid.

I was recently kicked out of a faeces forum for saying diarrhoea is better than regular poo because you can do it in the sink. I'll just sign up with a different name. they can't silence the truth.

This sounds like a Feedback thread.
I'd impose a "topless Thursday posting" rule.
    Hairy man moobs galore.

Ban the use of the word cretin. It's cringey.

Ban the phrase and posters who use "grabs popcorn" it's sad.

Ban the PC brigade. We all know who they are.

Ban boring posters who can't take a joke.

    Ban rules

    Choose life

    Better yet ...

Confine end of the road to their very own sub forum of After Hours, to prevent the ruination of threads on the original AH

That threads should be modded so that they roughly adhere to the thread title!

(The ISIS Vs the IRA thread comes to mind).

Ban the use of "TBH" and "TBF". Just say what you're saying, we will assume you are being honest and trying to be fair.

Ban people for being shit at having opinions.
You're banned for having sh1tiest opinion ever.

Split it in two. One forum where it's 'PC' for want of a better phrase, and regulated and modded etc beyond belief, where one group of the posters can hang out, and anyone acting the pup will be banned on sight as they knew where they were, another where you just say whatever you think and no one can complain that they find something offensive as they knew what they were in for when they hopped the fence, and they'll be banned on sight. Then everyone's happy.

That won't be too hard to enforce,I'd like the rules adjusted so I would be allowed to curse.Calling somebody a prock just doesn't get the message across properly in my eyes.I feel I can't express myself properly under the current regime. Some might even call it discriminatory, not me however there's enough of those pc wunkers posting in after hours as it is.

I'd say remove all rules and regulations. Let the invisible hand take care of After Hours.

    Ban the high horse brigade
    Ban the PC brigade
Ban posters who compile groups into "brigades"
Let posters call other posters utter **** when they are
Mods will only be allowed to intervene with a "careful now" or "Ah cmon that's not on" - no cards or bans
Kick the dry cnuts and "what would mammy think" types out

I'd get rid of a lot of the rules tbh. AH was more fun when I joined Boards in 2007/2008 and the site wasn't so terrified of controversy that it shut down any debate which resulted in any form of conflict or even just banter.

That's a pretty good idea. There should be a section on Boards where anything goes and you can have a laugh without the mods breathing down your neck.

Lol, would be nice. Too bad, I highly doubt the PC brigade would be capable of staying in their forum knowing people in another forum are speaking truths and not caring about looking like the best boys in enda kennys class of dweebs.

Ban anyone who quotes a long post and replies solely with "".

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,971 ✭✭✭_Whimsical_

Ban anyone who asks for links to back up very basic common sense. Who could be bothered researching information to point out the painfully obvious to someone else? Sure if it's a direct clarifiable point like "x public figure once said this" or "this once happened" it's necessary but stuff like "Oh! Well have you got links to prove that old people die???" etc is just an effort to frustrate conversation in the hope they'll wear you down with their pedantry.
If it continues it'll end in "I can't let you continue this conversation unless you come to my house and express this point to me via interpretative dance" etc.
