How could you be possibly still looking for rain, it has been raining for most of July!

Got first rain last Sat night in 3 weeks and this am again. Measured no rain this week. It's only misting here. Combines have been working all week around here. Winter barley will all be finished in a day or two.

Spread slurry and fert 10 days ago on silage stubble all still visible on ground

We are in a pocket of about 20 sq miles with mtns to the west and it gets dumped there. If I drive 4-5 miles west of me they're getting loads of rain but from here south and east for 10 miles nothing. All cows on silage in most farms. We get savage frosts during winter. Strange country.

got a few paddocks mowed there for bales, still waiting to get second cut done:rolleyes:

Second cut in and covered last night, week or 2 later than planned. Half loads coming out of one field but they still did a bit of damage ground very soft. It's a field that when working out stocking rates going forward it won't be counted as grazing as dependibg on year it can be a disaster really

Does it matter if you stack the second/third cut bales in front of first cut bales.

When it comes to foddering time what do you feed first?

How soon after making bales do ye spread manure.

Super little loader, I'm not a machinery expert by any means, but it's turned out to be a great purchase. Great manouverability, very lively and loads of lifting capacity(can lift two bales or a pallet of fert). Highly recommended

Have five different stacks of bales here altogether, this one is the biggest. Have first of the first cut stacked in calf shed beside the parlour as they'll be first fed to milking cows in the fall. Then after that not worried about which I feed as all cows will be dry. A lot of what was made the last day was surplus grass from cows ground, so quality should be ok. Don't tend to take second off much ground if I can help it, two cuts is hard on grass/ground imo, I try and cut everywhere once. Although that might have to change when stocking rate continues to rise.

What loader did you buy again? And how much if you don't mind me asking??

JCB 520 50, cost around €16/17 k, traded in a heap of dung against it so not sure of exact price.

Stacked four high here for the first time, running out of storage space, and to be honest it's higher than I like. Not even sure if it's legal.

Bit of a squeeze alright, although to be honest getting the four across on the bottom row was even more challenging!

Very nice, useful tool to have around the yard.
Dung sells for €5 a tonne around here, was it a big heap?:)
