Looking through various chat forums and it appears very obvious that political parties have a lot of people employed to spin their agendas. Just wondering out loud how much money do the various parties spend on these shills? Is it a well paid job? More importantly where does the money come from to pay these shills? Is it from party funds or does it come from allowances funded by you and I, ie taxpayers money?

    There is no such thing.

And if Fine Gael did do such a thing it would be paid fairly well, above average industrial wage and some health care benefits.

    P.s. Vote Fine Gael

Some people are just stupid enough to offer the service for free by having religious like devotion for a political party.

They don't really need to spin anything, 5 minutes listening to the rubbish the left spouts would convince most people that while the government makes mistakes they are still doing a reasonable job of turning the country around.

Just a reminder to all those left haters. You'd all be still down in the mines slaving for a dime and a half penny a day if it wasn't for the left. Now back to under your stone.

But every now and again we will send up to the surface for one of the elite to come down, and indeed they will stay with us, never to be seen again.

I don't think they do, tbh.
Most government policy is dictated by vested interests and lobby groups, all of whom pay for their own propaganda.

Look at the insane amount of support from various "entities" for minimum alcohol pricing in publications like the Irish Times. Where are the articles from the countless ordinary people who are opposed?

So far no answers but I guess to be expected in after hours.

What's mildly amusing is certain posters claiming the current government are responsible for any upturn in the economy. I'd like to hear exactly how the government are responsible for this upward trend.

The Irish left is so Fragmentary,There isn't really one credible left wing party in this country that could win enough seats to form a coalition. Labour are more less a neoliberal party now and have shaking off the ol' socialism for sit at the table and have smoked salmon.

Why would it be such a certainty that they are being paid by political parties? Maybe they just support them. To me, the latter is perfectly feasible, and the most likely answer IMO. This is something that has been suspected for years. In fairness, the OP just refers to political parties in general, but I've noticed complaints that there are possible SF supporters being planted to push the agenda - but only from those who aren't SF supporters. And complaints that there are possible FG supporters being planted to push the FG agenda - but only from those who dislike FG. :pac:

There's loads of those SF people on Boards. But they are either Volunteers or they only get the average industrial wage.

I don't get the government supporters angle, why would anyone not either directly or indirectly associated with a political party support them? Ok you can have your political beliefs, but to spend actual time arguing online on behalf of any party seems ludicrous, unless there was some sort of incentive to do so

It's equally ludicrous for you to waste your time on Boards giving out about it. What's in it for you?

What does being indirectly associated with a political party entail?

Is it? I'm just passing time on a lazy Saturday evening. The type of posters I'm talking about (not giving out about) appear to spend night and day arguing one agenda or another.

Indirectly associated would to me mean somehow related to or friendly with someone in a political party, or a paid shill just shilling for €€

SF have a propaganda budget like all political parties.

Where do the funds come from? If party donations then I couldn't care much, but if on the other hand there are party allowances allocated to this behaviour that are funded directly through taxes then I would have a problem with that

Arguing against an agenda more likely. Like the numerous people who use Boards as part of the anti property tax and anti water charges campaigns. Who is paying them to shill?

Have you a direct or indirect association with any political party or any political campaigns or agenda yourself? For instance are you opposed to water charges and property tax and did you ever attend any of the protests?

For the record, apart from voting in elections, I have no direct or indirect association with any political party or movement. And nobody is paying me.

Arguing against something is the same thing as arguing for another thing.

I have zero affillation with any political party, I find them all equally repulsive.

I'd just be interested in knowing whether our taxes fund these online campaigns

Are you confusing the Irish Government with the Israeli one?

It was so much easier to blame it on Them. It was bleakly depressing to think that They were Us. If it was Them, then nothing was anyone's fault. If it was us, what did that make Me? After all, I'm one of Us. I must be. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things.

You are the one saying there is funding going on. But you want other people to say where the funding is coming from. It's up to you to provide your evidence of funding, then we can see if it is real or imagined.

Apparently SF TDs only take the average industrial wage meaning the party pockets the rest. Therefore public money is being used for their propaganda.

Thanks for clearing that up, makes sense if in fact they really do just take the AIW.
Now for the other parties, where does their funding come from to counter the SF shilling?

But you're saying it's obvious that it's going on.
It's not IMO. I genuinely don't see anything other than people defending the party in question - that's not a strange thing to happen. Some people really do buy hugely into the party they support.
Many who say the shilling thing about Sinn Féin tend to be extremely anti nationalist and pro loyalist, not just anti provo - and use the stupid term "shinnerbot" a lot (I'm not a fan of SF btw).
