I tried 2 day delivery over the years, very hit and miss. Orders were rarely with me within 2 days.

I'd agree with foggy that the average time for regular delivery is 5+ days.

But thats not what foggy said he specifically used the word dispatch not delivery. Maybe a slip up but not one he corrected.

You can however get your delivery charges back if they fail to make the 2 day delivery.

I did not know that my3cents. Good to know, as I have to put an order in today and I will use 2 day shipping.

Wow that is very expensive delivery! £1.60 plus £6.50 per order Delivery!

With Amazons record of splitting up orders into multiple deliveries the delivery could easily cost more than the order!

Not that it'll help but I've submitted a complaint to the ASA in the UK for false / misleading advertising. After speaking with them by phone it appears that they cover this sort of issue. Not really sure if anything will come of it but you never know.

I got free supersaver in an order last night. 2 items from different departments. Both showing in stock from Amazon & my delivery estimate is 10-13 August! 3 whole weeks is a ridiculous lead time for in stock items. I am using Amazon a lot less then I used too as their delivery service is now a shambles.

The problem still exists: just tried to order couple of books of value over 90 pounds, all sold by Amazon. Order was split into 2 and only one of them was eligible for free delivery. So this happens even for items from one department

I had the same thing yesterday. Two items from the same department, both sold by Amazon, and it split them at the checkout and wanted £6 delivery on one, while the other was free. I didn't order at all and found them on eBay instead. It worked out cheaper overall from eBay, even paying for delivery. You just have to hunt around to find the cheapest delivery charges there.

Any word on that ASA filing ProjectMoose? I ordered a couple of things recently and they did the same. As far as I know everything was elegible for free shipping, but it got split out into two orders. Everything with an item price of over £25 was shipped free, everything with an item price of under £25 was put into a separate order (which came to over £25 incidentally) and postage was charged.

Not so much exactly "different departments", it think it is if they are "dispatched from different fulfillment centers", the order gets split ?

If the items come from different warehouses, the order splits, complain to CS, and they will refund the shipping.

no, they usually split one single order into separate deliveries with one "delivery" from each fulfilment centre but it is still just one order, what they are doing now is once the £25 is reached it is closed off as order #1 and free delivery applied then everything else goes into a new order with different order # and has charges for P&P added

Can you advise how to complain to CS? Is there a link on the order? I've just gone through my order and they are all marked as being eligible for free shipping to the UK and the link behind that is pretty clear that this also applies to orders over £25 to Ireland.

When I placed the order I thought everything was free shipping, but I thought there might have been 1 which wasn't so I assumed when they hit me for postage that this was the case, but it isn't.

I feel a strongly worded letter coming on. If they have an offer they should stand by it and not pull a fast one like this.

That's not how the CS rep explain it to me the other day, my order split in three, one part got free delivery, the other two parts did not, and they "claimed" it was because each of the parts were a different centre.

But they refunded it for me.

Anyone writing the programming code would probably assume that once you got free delivery for part of a split order then the rest would always incur a charge. Why would you have two free orders when it should be all one free order hence any split orders because of some issue Amazon may or may not want to fix will only have one part of it thats free for whatever reason the order is split - orders from different fulfillment centers or orders from different departments.

Anybody else notice that some sellers on Amazon that do FreeDelivery now suddenly no longer deliver to Ireland?

I bought a steam mop from Morphy Richards for example a few weeks back and delivery was free, but tonight when I went to buy another as a gift, there was a notice saying:
Sorry, we can't deliver this item to Ireland

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/Morphy-Richards-720506-Illuminated-Vibrating/dp/B00HVU6ZWO/

Have the issues now put certain sellers off delivering to Ireland?

I've found loads of times if I get a really good deal and then go back a second time that they will now no longer deliver to Ireland.

It does look like that once some sellers have seen the cost of delivering to Ireland they won't do it a second time.

They are still splitting the orders, took me 35 minutes on chat tonight to get them to wave the delivery charges, they didn't resist doing it they were just very slow to respond to each message in chat

Ten items today nearly a €200 order all books from Amazon themselves and they still only gave Free delivery on the one item that was over £25 and tried to charge postage for the rest.

I had ten minutes before I had to go out and managed to get them on live chat to drop the charges. It was actually an order my wife made in her name so when she couldn't get free delivery for the full order it very quickly became my problem :(

Once again had a live chat rep that refused to acknowledge there was an issue and behaved as if he was doing me a favour:mad:

Does anyone have info on an official complaints channel for this? I don't mind going down the chat route, but I want the complaint on record with them. I'm not averse to playing the long game, once I know the route.

They don't like complaints or criticism of how they operate or their policies.

Is it from the same seller? sometimes they will send larger items once but then see the postage costs and take those items off the list for delivery to Ireland.

But they are very keen for you to tell them how good their packaging is

I reviewed an item once gave it 5 stars and pointed out that the product was in its retail packaging, which was because the previous reviewers had said the item was supplied loose in a plastic bag with no retail box.

Amazon refused to post my review  It took me 3 emails before they would agree that my review had nothing to do with Amazons own packing materials and finally print the review.

Interesting, I've run into this problem lots of times recently and every time I open customer service chat and they remove the shipping charge almost immediately. Very frustrating having to get in touch with CS every.single.time. you want to make an order but there you go.

Cheers for the replies. Yeah, it was from the same seller as before.

What I ended up doing was just clicking on the number of sellers selling it 'New' which takes you to a list and then choosing it where Amazon where actually 'selling' it rather than just be "Fulfilled by" them, as was the case with the listing when it was sold by the other seller. It was £7 more expensive that way, but I was able to get the free shipping and so works out not so bad overall. Still saving €55 on the Debhenams price here anyway which is the main thing.

For balance: Item ordered last Thursday, arrived Monday morning.

I'm having a similar experience with super saver right now.

    Shipped Monday 07 September
Dublin Parcel Center 08 September at 12:10
Delivered in Swords Wednesday 09 September at 11:10

    Shipped Wednesday 09 September
Dublin Parcel Center Thursday 10 September at 11:10
Most likely will be delivered tomorrow.

All with AnPost and while amazon on their webpage shows a possible delivery date 2 days later than the actual one.

Now if they keep this up, that would be nice.

Same issue here, I just ended up buying from different shops, even if it was slightly more expensive, at least I didn't have to do 3-4 orders.

On a different note, has anyone had issues with packages just not arriving?
Happened to 2 packages so far, all of them smaller and with no tracking number, might be something on AnPost's side. At least Amazon was alright refunding them.

Hi all - ASA still actively investigating my complaint thankfully.

Amazon UK have cut all communication with me. They will not respond to my emails and just tell me on the phone that the issue is being investigated.

In my opinion, Amazon UK are actively deceiving Irish customers. Advising customers to contact their CS to get a shipping refund is not a solution.

I would urge you all to contact amazon via twitter, email and chat and make a complaint.
Amazon Help Twitter page and Amazon Contact Us page.

You can make a complaint to Advertising Standards Authority UK (ASA) online here. A very simple online form - explain the problem, give an example and perhaps include a link to this thread.

Never had a problem with this until today. Tried to place an order for an item that cost 30stg and 2 add on items which, ironically, they claim can only be dispatched with qualifying prime orders yet they have still placed the 2 add on items in a separate order and charged me delivery  So frustrating to have to contact cs, who claim that there is not a wider problem yet immediately agree to drop delivery fees as if they are doing it as a goodwill gesture

for every person that contacts customer care there may be 10 or 12 who don't bother if its only a few pounds.

Quick sanity check - do the items ever explicitly say "Free delivery to Ireland", or is this based on the link behind the "Free delivery to UK" text which says that delivery to Ireland is free over £25?

For example, an item says "£12.77 & FREE Delivery in the UK on orders over £20. Details" and when you click on the details link you get the text which says "Deliveries to the Republic of Ireland. Orders including £25 or more (including local VAT) of eligible items from any product category qualify for FREE Delivery. Items will be delivered 3-5 days after dispatch.
