Even from the data you collect every month though doesn't show anything like those figures. TV3 were 2% ahead of UTV Ireland, especially as they had the Rugby World Cup helping them out.
If it's just the prime time between 7-10 figures, then it would make sense.

Into the lull of July and August, and not much high ratings there. Although, still surprised that a live episode of Mrs Browns Boys went out on a hot summers day. Maybe a live episode at Xmas day/eve would get huge ratings.

Only 1 new light entertainment programme on TV3 at weekends is Catchphrase - and good to see that it has the highest rating compared to others shows. Tipping Point Lucky Stars, All Star Mr And Mrs, Celebrity Squares and All Star Family Fortunes have been shown to death now at the weekends. They haven't tried anything new over the past 2 years, so I'm glad these are flopping there.

After that Nicky Byrne mess last time, I think they're better to stay well clear until Winning Streak is back on after its rest.

This is a huge problem with RTE when they do try something new and it fails you not likely to see them try again. As for summer rating, we have to wait to see what the audience share is like, but remember RTE moved GAA over to ONE which means they should be up from last year.

Sunday Rio coverage had 142,000 with the opening ceremony getting just 110,000 with coverage on Saturday getting 100,000. all other programmes on 2 had under 100,000 viewers with Chicago PD getting 44,000 viewers.

Daniel O'Donnell gets just 98,000 viewers for the top spot on TV3, kicking catchphrase of the number 1 spot getting just 97,000 viewers. America's Got Talent had 85,000 viewers. With 3 eps of Tonight getting under 80,000 viewers. Celeb BB had 81,000 viewers on Monday, and had 66,000 on Friday at Number 20.

As usual Emmers and Coro St took up the top 11 spots on UTV Ireland. With The chase pulling in 51,000 viewers at number 20.

How does reeling in the years still get such high numbers ? Everyone must know all the episodes like the back of their hand by now. How many showings has it had ?

It brings back memories - just like listening to a favourite piece of music that you may have heard a thousand times or a good film like, say, Casablanca or Man for All Seasons or other outstanding classic films of yesteryear.

I think it would be nice if they could remake the series with other clips that would evoke other memories that are more relevant today, but I still like remembering those days when I was young(er).

Ratings not great for Rio Olympics on RTE2 so far judging by the opening weekend. The "buzz" doesn't seem to be there this year. However, the ratings will lift their daytime shares with the kids programming limited to a few hours.

I think when the games are closer to home their is always a bigger buzz. I am not sure about how badly daytime on 2 is doing with kids programming, also with more coverage on News Now and the player 2 may see a decline. NBC is reporting better audiences online. Interesting to see how BBC satellite channels do.

Top rated show last week for TV3 was Exposed: Ireland's Secret Cults with 104,000.

I cannot believe 104,000 haven't seen this documentary already, as it's been repeated so many times over the past few years - I think it's actually been shown around 20 times on both TV3 and 3e.

RTE2 dominated by Olympics, with one entry for the Super Cup.

Not only were GAA happy with a Semi Final replay on Saturday, but so too were RTE1 - with it getting 422,000 viewers and topping the charts.

End of august X-factor and the Rose of Tralee are back.

It will be interesting to see if the X-Factor will make gains with the return of Coro St to TV3. Or if Victoria will do better on TV3 should they decide to show it or other ITV dramas.

Certainly UTV Ireland have pretty much given up, with everything outside the soap below 95,000 viewers.

TV3 was helped by X-factor, CATCHPHRASE, Chapions League and UFC with everything else below 90,000 viewers.

The 7 O'Clock Show had one entry after a year and a half with just 67,000 viewers.

RTE2's top show was The Sunday Game with KKK: The Fight For White Supremacy getting 65,000 viewer!

Champions League on 2 had just 60,000 viewers, with Eirtricity League getting 42,000 viewers.
