Brainless from Root to throw away his wicket like that. Very un-Root like. Maybe he has instructions from Stokes to play more positively during the innings ? Either way, silly… Crawley was well set and scoring freely, why the fûck not just support him ? rotate the strike, punish the bad balls by all means, but reverse hacking like a …. I dunno. Stokes and Root needed to remember they has a long assed tail there…. Advantage India now. Be a real tough get from here. Maybe or I’m presuming another flaw in Stokes captaincy, there is a time for gung ho and a time for considered action plans / tactics…. The only tactic needed was ‘ be positive ‘ not be careless.

Crawley out to a dodgy LBW. Never looked out 194/5

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,808 ✭✭✭Mysterypunter

Bairstow gone as well 194/6 at lunch

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,808 ✭✭✭Mysterypunter

    Stokes run out now 220/7

Bumrah gets his second wicket in this innings. India should wrap this up quickly now.

Bumrah cleans up Hartley. India win relatively easy. Ashwin's wait for 500 wickets goes on. Ten days to the next test.

It's a really enjoyable series so far. Some outstanding performances, Pope, Jaiswal, Bumrah, Anderson and Foakes wicketkeeping. India have got a lot of grief for their test pitches in recent years but first two have been really good. In this game India had a cheatcode with Bumrah and was the difference. As well as Jaiswal and Gill batted, England win that without Bumrah. Toss of course too was a help.

Series could be a classic. India are still favourites but England have shown enough in the first two games to say they won't have it all their own way.

    England will be disappointed.

with both batting innings sub 300 scores.

Over their two innings, the only player to score even a half century was Crawley, he did twice, no centuries.

106 runs is a comprehensive enough defeat.

that said Jaiswal’s double hundred was something to behold especially given his youth and inexperience, just turned 22 a few weeks back and Gill I think it was who got the other hundred….

    series set up nicely.

NZ all over SA.... 459 lead and 110/2 in their second innings....

Of course SA with several absentees due to T20 commitments at home.... ridiculous...

No surprise the ground despite being one of the most picturesque in the world and absolutely bathed in sunshine is about four fifths empty...

Basically watching NZ vs an SA 'B' team.

Bizarre ODI in Canberra. WI accumulated 86 runs in 24.1 overs with opener Athanaze making 32 of them, there were 13 extras so the other 10 batters contributed 41 runs! Australia knocked the runs off in under 7 overs .

Horrible effort from West Indies, no intent with the bat, just sitting in and waiting to get out. 3 t20s next. The odis were very one sided

  • Registered Users Posts: 24,993 ✭✭✭✭Strumms

NZ having declared this morning….still all over SA… SA now 50/2 but from 22 overs. Pathetic display from the South Africans.

  • Registered Users Posts: 24,993 ✭✭✭✭Strumms

South African cricket and cricketers can kindly go and fúck itself / themselves.

im a cricket lover but they are absolutely short changing and fücking over cricket lovers, everywhere.

there are tops 60-70 paying spectators visible here at the Bay Oval.

They sent a combination of a B/C test team with the main players off playing T20……

ICC need to safeguard this format of the game.

SA beaten despite a nice wagging tail btw, beaten by 281 runs.

no good to anyone, if they are going to disrespect paying fans around the world and in NZ…. 🖕🏻

More tripe being served up by West Indies. Australia 51/0 off 4 overs. Warner, a slogger who can't hit the ball off the square away from home is hammering them, and West Indies are too rubbish to stop it

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,808 ✭✭✭Mysterypunter

Warner averaged 57 in tests at home and 32 away, and the Aussies think he's an all time great

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,224 ✭✭✭Gillespy

Bit harsh I think. Warner has always been a great white ball player. Lethal opening in the powerplay and with the ability to make big scores. He has done it for years home and away. Two one day world cups and a T20 one too. Consistent performer in the IPL as well.

Test match cricket it's more mixed. Still for what he was at the start, a T20 slogger with no first class pedigree, he had a great test career. A lot have been tried to do that Sehwag role and didn't last no time.

Indians being torn a new one in the U19 World Cup Final.

Aussies bowling is excellent and their fielding too..

Struggling at 113/6 chasing a target of 254..

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,808 ✭✭✭Mysterypunter

Choking at all levels the Indians. 254 was a tough chase, but the coverage reminded me of Afghanistan v England at the world cup. Afghanistan made 284, and in the studio there were 3 people. Some sky dude, a whizzkid coach that had some title about finding South East Asians to play for England. He was on about positive role models and Moeen Ali and Adil Rashid, but was a bollox talker. The 2 boys started a conversation about how many overs England would need to make the target. The 3rd man I the studio was Zac Crawley, and he was shouted down by these 2 clowns when he suggested it would be a good idea to bat for a bit and it was a tough chase. Diversity coach was very sure of himself for a bloke that was a token pundit. Everything he said was wrong, and he was a cocky idiot. When Australia scored 253 today, the pundits were all in agreement for an Indian victory. Sheep that followed each other, and were all wrong

NZ vs SA. SA win the toss and bat first…

Ball swinging lots in the first two overs….

what a catch, Henry with a wicket, Fortuin gone first ball of the second over, Phillips taking an other worldly brilliant and borderline impossible catch 😎

  • Registered Users Posts: 24,993 ✭✭✭✭Strumms

A picturesque venue for a test but it’s a poor spectacle. NZ head and shoulders better than the South African B/C team…

SA 114/5. Scoring at 2.19 runs an over currently, 52 overs gone, block block block…leave leave leave… shot…block block block…leave leave leave…middle order players looking nervy as hell… the outside edges of all batsmen to the crease must have been beaten about 60 times so far in this innings..

No wonder the ground is empty. ALL on the South Africans…. and their first team test players stepping aside to give preference to the T20’s… poor…

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,808 ✭✭✭Mysterypunter

Saffas 2nds recovered to 220/6. Battled but outclassed. Silly to pick a 2nd squad for a test series, play properly or don't play

  • Registered Users Posts: 24,993 ✭✭✭✭Strumms

    2.46 the run rate. 👏🏼

a wag in the tail for sure but 242/9 no, 242 all out….

NZ will be happy enough as they’d have taken that before play on day 1 but will slightly regret not getting them out for cheaper.

  • Registered Users Posts: 24,993 ✭✭✭✭Strumms

Conway nicks off for a duck, 4th delivery of the innings. A good delivery but by virtue of how short it pitched he’ll be disappointed he didn’t read the movement off the surface a little better. Could have left it.

nervy looking start from the New Zealanders, thought they’d have more confidence. Started the contest so we’ll… but..

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,808 ✭✭✭Mysterypunter

New Zealand 211 all out. 145/3 and a collapse of 7/66. South Africa lead by 31

  • Registered Users Posts: 19 SilentBee

South Africa got this TBH. Chasing anything over 300 in the last innings is going to be difficult

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,808 ✭✭✭Mysterypunter

Not over, but if their batting side stands up, even 250 will be tough. Would be worried about them being blasted out for 100.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,808 ✭✭✭Mysterypunter

South Africa doing OK at 120/4, 151 in front. Bedingham 52*

175/4 now. 206 in front. Recovery from 39/3
