I always enjoyed Stargate - series and movie - the concept always appealed to me.

I bet Srameen taught MacGyver everything he (Mac) knows, so it makes sense that he (Srameen) should keep an eye on his pupil to see if he (Mac) put what he learnt to good use. :D

Many a time, when operating in remote locations and without easy access to spares, I often felt like Mac.

That's it precisely. Guns above deck and no masts at all.

    You're up.

I really should write down the questions I think up as you can darn guarantee I will forget the one I want to ask inside 20 seconds.... I will be back in a moment.

I can identify with that. By the time I find some writing materials (where did she put them this time?) I will have forgotten what I wanted to do with them. :(

Does it launch something? jets/rockets etc. Or allow them to land?

I'll ask another question about her, or I'll have forgotten it by the time I manage to get another answer right.

In what other very popular TV series did that actress play a part, and what was the peculiarity of her character? (I know it's vague, but I can't phrase it any better at the moment without giving the answer away).

Yes - I only caught a few episodes, but I always thought she was a fictional character. I don't know how accurate/ realistic the series is, but this was it.
