    Ha thank's for the hint.

In the Basque region of Spain what's the difference between Tapas and Pinchos? (thanks Nevin :D)

Some say a pincho is paid for and a tapa is free but that's not always the case in Basque country either. Others say Pinchos are on bread but that doesn't always hold either.

I think you have to have a Spanish Psych to know the real difference.

Ah jeez, i got caught in the middle of a huge argument over this a few years back in Barcelona which ended with one guy knocking over a table of drinks and storming out :D its very passionate subject.

My understanding would be the same as yours though Autumn Harsh Cloud - either Pinchos are paid for and tapas are free (must try that argument when I get the bill in my local tapas bar in cork !), OR that Pinchos are attached to bread. Pincho is from the verb Pinchar which means to pierce and they are traditionally pierced to a piece of bread with a cocktail stick.

Pincho my tapas and I'll stick you one with a cocktail stick was the old joke (you have to be there)

Correct (according to Nevin Maguire and Wiki)
It's done to prevent the top falling off.
    Your go.

I think we're waiting on beer enigma to set a question but just to keep the thread ticking over.

What was the first scientific discovery made in space?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 29,740 ✭✭✭✭looksee

Now, would this be the first discovery as a result of something manmade going into space, or something resulting from observation from earth?
Figuring out that the earth went round the sun was a discovery in space, so to speak.

I'm gonna post a question without having answered one, for various reasons:
Reason 1) We seem to be missing some questions.
Reason 2) The questions are hard when you don't know the answer and I've not been able to answer any questions lately.
Reason 3) I learned a new word and now I have to tell everybody about it.
Reason 4) I don't need reasons cos I'm a rebel, a maverick, a ronan, anti-authoritarian*, punk, misfit and all round cad.

Who, what or where is 'Fenestration'

*Not really - sorry mods. :o

Um, well defenestration is chucking someone out of a window, so presumably fenestration is failing to chuck...no, installing a window?

3/5, good effort but requires more work.

Memorialising someone in a window with a picture (stained glass).

    I am guessing!

Much as I want to say you are right, I can't. Windows is a good start but not the whole story of 'fenestration'. Naught to do with stained glass either. :(

Throwing someone in through a window?

Cutting a window-like opening into someone (for medical/scientific/Inquisition/torture reasons)?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 29,740 ✭✭✭✭looksee

I like that answer New Home! I have looked up the answer so I can't say any more, except that I think that Old Goat should have given me 4 out of 5... :D

I agree! (I looked it up, too, after I posted that)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,641 ✭✭✭✭OldGoat

    I demand perfection!
Defenestration might be the act of heaving someone through a window but it's not 'fenestration'. Fenestration is not about putting windows into people. It is possible to have fenestration with no windows involved at all: that was my reason for finding out about the word in the first place. :)

"Window" intended as an opening, I didn't mean double glazing or stained glass!
