Not everyone’s cup of tea and seems overpriced but I like these.

I like the Bluebirds myself but that's very strong money for one. I posted one here a couple of years ago in the today I saw a classic thread that my father in law had.
He sold it shortly afterwards for 1500 and it was immaculate with only 39000 miles on it.

    Chauffe, Marcel, chauffe!

For €5500 I'd expect an NCT!

No NCT records showing so likely never tested

So many chancers in Ireland driving classic cars without NCT. Even trying to sell them for strong money. This really does not help our classic car community :(

But do you know what, I find it hard to blame them with almost zero enforcement by the Guards. People are people, if you let someone away with something, they will do it.

I didn,t realise it was the law to have an NCT on a classic???

Post 1980 cars need an nct at present. Plenty of 1980-88 cars on classic tax that require an nct

My 2 classics(4x4) have no NCT. The first failed due to tinted windows but that is used on my homestead so never on public roads. Can wait for it to be nct exempt.
My other just turned 30 this year. ( i brought it back from NZ). Its all insured/taxed( and garaged) so just waiting for may to get the 2 yr nct.

How will the 4x4 ever be exempt and how do you get a 2yr NCT

I really don't understand why people don't get their NCT's done. I just don't. Its a safety thing and if you don't have one your insurance is invalid.

Nah, 3rd party is always covered. Fully comp bit wont be though.

From 2020 new legislation will introduce a 40 year rolling exemption on all vehicles, and all vehicles between 30-40 years old will only require a test every two years

I know that, but I just want to make the point.
I,m not a chancer, I drive a classic pre 80 with no NCT, as its not required by law.

But is always well maintained , and would pass the pepsi challenge , no problem.

But as its not the law, I dont see the need to nct it. Unless of course if I was selling it, then it makes sense.

I also drive a post 80 classic that requires a CVRT cert. Which it has always.

I love those Bluebirds! Always appreciated the shape. :)

The latter part at least is starting in May. I'm supposed to be doing an NCT on Sunday, but assuming that doesn't happen I'm wondering if I shouldn't just wait another 7 weeks. :pac:

This is a very sad sight. I'm nearly positive I was offered this very car about 4 or 5 years ago as a swap for my little Wolseley 1300. It was in much better shape then (and wasn't at all cheap). Very sad indeed.

The 2 year nct comes in on May 2018.

Looks lovely but no price stated is a pain in the hole.

If I’m not mistaken that car has been for sale for a very, very long time. In my experience, lads who won’t put up a price usually are in cloud cuckoo land about what their car is worth.

It's also one of the uglier mercs ever built Imo. A vulgar looking car.

I see why one wouldn’t be keen but I’m drawn to it for some reason.

The colour scheme certainly doesn’t help that one!

Also, I wouldn't buy a can of coke from a seller who write an ad like that.

Agreed - it looks like the original owner really wanted a stationwagon.

The W126 is one of the classiest, most timeless designs of all time. Has a certain imposing feel to it, but can blend in as well. The Coupe is just another step above that.

I prefer the 1986-on version with the smooth side planks, capped alloys and a slightly lower rear suspension. Baroque wheels never suited the W126 IMO.

But yeah, horses for courses and each to their own.

It looks like Hellelfenbein or Light Ivory aka. German Taxi Yellow (RAL 1015) (Mercedes colour 623). It@s the legal colour for Taxis in most of Germany. After spending a few years in Germany there is no way I could buy a Merc with that colour.

That's a total dogs dinner of a W126, f*ck knows how it ended up in that state.
I couldn't disagree more however with your assertion that it's a vulgar looking car. Good lord, its possibly bruno sachos finest work. In my humble opinion, as we hurtle towards a new era of motoring, the W126 will become more and more relevant.

Yes, beautiful design for the 80s, when launched in 1979 I think. Huge road presence.

Even if you’re pissed as a fart, up to your gills in coke, no NCT and you maime someone for life the 3rd party is always covered. If you’ve any money the insurance co might chase you for reimbursement but none the less, 3rd party is still covered.

Don’t know why but I’d put a roof rack on this. Nice colour!

Love this. My mother had one of these in white in the 80’s with the little lever to start the car under or beside the handbrake. Great memories.

Love this one, looks extremely clean. Seems a bit over priced to me but I'm not sure of the going rate for these. If looked after its sure to appreciate in value.

Looks fantastic. I think the price is very reasonable, that car is only ever going to appreciate in value if looked after. The ultimate in classic car practicality.

NCT to end of October 2018 as well.

If it checks out it's a bargain. Great find.
