And you sold it for under 2k or something like that if I remember right?

I would have loved it. I guess you and I are at the same wavelength some of the time. We love being with classic cars but we do like change and we do not like paying over the odds :)

This is what's wrong with our 'system' of classifying and registering cars. Firstly it's not 'vintage' in the true sense of the meaning, it's at most 20 years old. I cannot accept that by (allegedly) fitting a chassis sourced from a 40 (at the very least) year old car, and fitting it to a 20 year old car, and than allowing the entire vehicle somehow magically make it in total '40 years old' and therefore having it exempt from any kind of safety test, never mind the cheaper road tax.
I own 2 Disco's, one a 2001 commercial (2 seater van) and the other a 1999 standard model. Both have to undergo a test once a year, and as a result are well maintained.
On more than one occasion I've had to get letters of confirmation to prove that the chassis numbers on my vehicles were correct (they are notoriously hard to read, as they are laser etched on the chassis). I wonder is the 'chassis number' on this car easy to read... and when exactly was it etched !
At nearly €8000 I'd expect perfection, and not the usual wear and tear you'd find on Discos... worn drivers seat....rust on rear window channel (guaranteed to be all the way down in the door)... lifting of door weatherstrip which is usually rust on the strip clips...saggy headlining (he says the sunroofs have been sealed... they usually leak)....incorrect front bumper... worn steering wheel (taped)...and I'd guess the list will go on...
This.. https://www.donedeal.ie/vintagecars-for-sale/range-rover-classic-1976/21952427 is more representative of the value of an (original) chassis attached to it's (original) body....

What do the experts on here think of the sw20 MR2?

A future classic? Don't see many of them on the roads at all these days, when there used to be a lot of them about.

I used to own a 91 one myself, fantastic car. Amazing build quality. Only got rid when kids came along.

I like the look of this one, was tempted for a while! (although not a fan of the ott rear spoiler)

    "first to see will buy"

No they won't. Nobody will come and see the car if they don't know how much you want for it

Yes putting cars up at €1 is a bit strange I don't know why sellers do this.

But having said that she is very solid looking for a '73 and worth a call if you were in the market.

    True.

There should be a ban on posting ads without a price attached on this thread. It's hard to classify something as a bargain if the price is unknown.

I would happily comply with that ban if it was brought in but then where would you post nice clean classics without a price?
Maybe the thread could be re-named to cover all classics for sale.

Very few photos or description on the ad, but still looks very clean - it seems quite rare to find one in this good a condition over here compared to in the UK or even up North. Would love one of these. €5,250

That is the whole point of owning one... and if you don't 'get it' you've missed the point !

My absolute pet hate wrt car sales.

I would ignore any advert that doesn't include a price.

There's even a large car dealer up here in Donegal who has POA for every car in their stock. Always been like that! Fools.

    http://www.colmdilloncars.com/used-cars.php?&per_page=20&page=1

I don't even check out their website anymore when it comes to changing my car.

In business for 44 years with a current stock of 84 vehicles.
They must be doing something right.

I’m in a minority here, but I prefer the look of these with rubber bumpers over chrome

You must be a youngster of about 50 then, coz I too remember when those bumpers were the latest thing on those MG's - it made them SO modern looking! ha.

This is the key phrase here.

If you are in the market for the car, you will call and find out what the story is. After that, usual rules apply.

No, as I'm a new driver and only recently licenced (March) but it's definitley on my list of vehicles to have a go of :)

If I was buying one I wouldn't be bothered which bumpers were on it either. 25 years ago I would have worked on quite a few of those and I could never get the hate for the rubber bumpers.

Far from a bargain. It doesn't even have nice wheels or leather for that price.
