I was out for a quick walk yesterday with a friend and we got 3 bunnies he got 1 and I shot the other 2. The first one I shot was at 152 yards. When I dialed in and fired and he ran, I thought I had missed completely but I dialed back again and got I him at 132 yards. When I picked him up I discovered that my first shot had pierced both ears. Pity I missed killing him on first shot but I am Happy out with my rifle and scope combo.

    It's a Ruger 10/22 Tactical Target with a Sightron S-Tac 2.5-17.5X56

    I was using mini-mags

Have done the exact same, granted only one ear, but it's amazing how they can just sit after being hit like that.

Some nice shooting. The rifle is well zeroed now.

Rabbits are hardy ba5tards ain't they.
I've shot plenty that shouldn't of moved after and some that almost made it back home. They are hardy or else I'm a shocking shot :)

Shortly after i got the .17 i was still holding over like i used to for the .22lr. So i'd aim "mid ear" for a good head shot and the .17 being so flat would hit right where i aimed.

I always got them with the second shot, but the rabbits would mostly sit or crouch down. Only one ran. It's like they didn't notice or in the cases where they crouched/dropped down knew something was up but decided to try and make themselves small instead of running.

As for hardy. Well i've seen some shots over the years that should have easily dropped them, but it took another one or even two to finish the job.

I hit one with a .22 magnum at little over 60 yards and heard the thump and rabbit didn't move so I assumed it was hit.
As I got closer to bugs it somehow managed to run towards it hole and it managed its head and shoulders into burrow before I grabbed him. He was hit in the neck but yet managed to crawl away.

    .

That's what they do when they get really frightened. They do the same when you get between them and their burrow - it can be very hard to recognise them when they flatten themselves.

It has to be pure shock mixed with adrenaline that keeps them moving after some shots especially kill shots

The second one i shot at about 50 yards and he ran into the open field and thankfully not the ditch and I said to my buddy I sware I hit him. The rabbit ran for about 60 yards before he fell stone dead. How he managed it I don't know.

Cass I zeroed at 25 yards which is also 61 yards. It gives me half inch high or low from 15 to about 70 yards and using sterlok i I dial for the longer shots
