    Hi,

As above my quote for this year is 580.

    I am 40 years old.
    10,000 miles per year,
Car is used for domestic and social use only.
I have tried 12 different insurance companies.
The make and model of the car is 2005 BMW 320cd coupe (150 bhp)
Is it the model the reason why the insurance seems so high ?
Most of the lads my age at work driving 2.0l diesels are quoted between 350/400 euro.
Has anyone else experienced similar to myself ?
    Thanks.

Could be area you live in, parked on street, security etc etc

I am paying slightly less on opc with similar info but garaged on private ground, but 36, clean licence, although no claims in 14 years only get 6 with last 2 companies.

Mine actually gone up in last 2 years, 420 then now 500 and something.

Seems a common occurrence on renewals this year, and with some companies on new quotes.

My policy went from €400 to €880 with no claims. Changed company and got it for €390.
Sister, Father and Mother all had similar experiences. Policies have risen by between 80 - 130%. No reason, no claims, etc. The explanation given was "we've (insurance companies) paid out a lot in the last year." All of us are 33 or older, all with full NCB (10 years+), full license, etc.

So in essence they seem to be trying to recoup monies by increasing existing members policies. Thing is i seen a program relating to this on RTE recently and they said this year was a bumper year for insurance companies with claims at a low and profits at a high.

However, as was said above, type of car, location you live in, and where/how the car is stored can effect your quote?

AXA looking for 894 from me. Long time with them and no claims or points. Up from 700 or so last year.
Have them down to mid 700s now but it's still expensive as im 36 and the car isn't mad or anything but there might be something to the coupe theory.
