Yeah the netted thing would have me a bit anxious. Grand in soft play when there’s sponge underneath if you fall through, but tiles
The divil in me was hoping Hugh would collapse the whole thing

I wouldn't trust the floating bunk bed up above the child's bed either. I would move the bed from directly under it. I did like the house though - it had plenty of colour.

Has this house been on another House programme? It looks familiar

Do you mean the house with the net ? A house on Grand Designs Australia did the same thing. Better than glass I suppose :D

The chimney light panel was a brilliant idea too. It was much more interesting to see a 'normal' house and how it dealt with normal issues. I loved the history behind the house too.

We own one of these cottages, a relative currently lives in it. When we bought it years ago I looked up the history on the census report as the estate agent had given us a little bit of history and the house had been in the same family since they were built - there was a family of 11:eek:, lived in it, 2 parents and 9 children. And in their original state they were a 2 bed/1 living room cottage with an outside toilet. I remember wondering aloud just where they managed to procreate all of them!

Ya I can not warm to them what so ever...please bring back the other two....

I think that the new presenters improved last night from week 1.
Thought the winner was most deserving.
The way Hugh writes the number 8!

Love what they did with the chimney. It was a fab cottage. It looked tiny from the outside but surprisingly spacious inside. The only thing I wasn’t mad about was the disco loo but loved the rest. The first home annoyed me for some reason, I don’t know why. Maybe it’s too perfect

The disco loo was my fave part!!!!

I loved the cottage so much! I totally get what you mean about the first house though.

Delighted the cottage won but I didn't think it would when compared to much bigger houses.
The house where the owner was the architect or designer seemed a bit over confident or sure of herself, the husband didn't get a word in. The last house was actually echoey, I noticed it especially when Hugh stood in the front area.
Likes the cottage, it was so clever in it's use of space. And the chimney, that was such a great idea!

Standard of houses this week is rubbish, a few semi d's

I miss the wow factor this show used to have

I'm giving this program another go this year and enjoyed last week.
I have to say that this week it's doing nothing for me.

The scoring from hugh there on the last house was ridiculous

I was looking at Twitter the guy who owned it seems to be followed by Claire Byrne Live, RTE, etc.

That last house was truly awful. The middle house was probably the best of the lot but none blew me away really.

Agree the Limerick house was awful - would give you a headache 🀕

I had to take 2 paracetamol after looking at that last house, way too much going on for me. Far too many clashing patterns, can't believe Hugh scored it 10.
I thought they were a bit harsh on the apartment. It was a fabulous, original space. I loved her mid century furniture.
To each his own I suppose.

I expected to see a grow house in the attic of the last house.
They have to have been smoking when they were picking the colours
Edit : recorded it that was a Mad decision

I liked the apartment, I'd happily move in tomorrow.

Second house very "samey" to what we've seen before. Though I did like the bedroom quarters.

Jesus the last house. I can deal with clutter happily enough but my God there was no let up from it. Someone also must have got into macrame during lockdown as it was everywhere.

    Disappointing week.

Agree that final house was way too busy. Overall I thought this week didnt have much and definitely not an overall winner

Missed the first few minutes, did they say where the apartment with the red brick walls was?

Antrim I think, an old mill?

Wft was going on this week.

That last house was horrific. Looked like a slightly fancy version of students house where you have no money to decorate and you just buy a mismatch of everything that's cheap.

Colours were horrendous. It was also hideously cluttered.

I need a lie down to recover after that.

How did Hugh give tonight’s winner a 10? Usually I’m rooting for the houses that didn’t cost an arm and a leg to build but the Limerick home was so busy.

After watching the last few episodes it seems the winning formula would be a massive barn built in the middle of nowhere that doesn't fit in with the surroundings filled with ****e from TK Maxx

It's over 15 minutes since I've watched it but still feeling woozy.

Strangest reaction to something on a TV programme ever for me.

I thought the apartment with the brick had the potential to be amazing but the way she styled it let it down. Wtf was she thinking with the green walls. A beautiful space though in and of itself

I personal think Hugh has his favorites and he really wants certain one's to win for whatever reason.

Deirdre is missed. Hugh lost the plot with that 10 tonight. I’d be more inclined to agree with Amanda’s 6. Last week’s house far superior imo

Hugh has no Deirdre or Peter to keep him in check and he is running a muck.

The more outlandish the house the better.

It's a joke. I'm sorry but I don't watch this show to see some blinged up semi d'. We have had 2 over last few weeks and both were horrific.

I want to see a cleverly designed house that's beautiful decorated like the cottage, that's my favourite so far this year.

Amanda's criticism of the upcycling in the first house was very harsh. Its something she should be encouraging.

The last house made me feel woozy. I did like the attic conversion though, clever having the utility room up there.

Second house felt like a soulless show house. Their choices of windows and sizes didn't help either

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,806 ✭✭✭recipio

Whatever happened to less is more ? For once the girls got in some valid critical points.
The industrial unit was nice but far too much stuff. The second house was Art Deco meets Victoriana and the house in Limerick was like living in a kaleidoscope.
A more restrained palate would improve them all no end.
