are you what they call an "individual"?? do you see the importance in standing on your own two feet and knowing your own mind, or do you find yourself
easily led and follow the crowd?
Can you honestly say you are your own, independent person?

I'm a bunch of people, in fact my username is THAAARG! No seriously, a bit of both sometimes, I have my weaknesses but I'm fairly sure of my own identity.

'Individual' is a label in itself that people try to conform to.

It's very popular these days. All these rebelious types raging against the machine.

    Try hards :p

I'm a conjoined twin. The smaller one, I kind of hang off the main torso. Can't even stand on my own one foot.

Been called a lot of things in my time, can't remember 'individual' being one of 'em :p

Yeah, 'independent' would cover it alright, not to be confused with 'stubborn bastard'! :pac:

I think so - I can certainly see no one around me I am copying or emulating or following. Despite the several Charlie Sheen jokes I get.

I'm my own person alright. I think outside the box and rest assured that only God can judge me. I'm so sure of the latter point in fact that I've got it tattooed on me forearm just so everyone knows what an individual blue skies thinker I really am.

    Absolutely.

I always made my own way in life.

Never put out the begging bowl to anyone.

Everything I have is got the right way & I'm under compliment to nobody.

Therefore, nobody can tell me what to do.

And nobody can tell me how I can think.

    It feels good.

Vincent, many thanks for bringing R.D. Laing to my attention.

I've heard and seen him before but never got his name, I heard snippets but never copped who/what he was.

Im on my second hour of you tube footage from him now and all I can say is thanks.

I find that generally people who "follow the crowd" don't have the self awareness or depth of thought to know that they are in fact sheeple so asking them about it is a bit pointless. They tend to think they're passionate individuals who just happen to self actualise by spouting the dictates of the hive mind of whatever group they aspire to and living by it's mores. The fact that their viewpoint is "cool" amoung their friends and social milieu is just proof of how it's right as far as they're concerned.

I honestly don't know. I'm reliant on other people, but I do what I feel I need to do. I ask for advice, but I decide. I've spent a long time trying to figure out who I am, but I never seem to arrive at a final answer. I don't know if I can exist separate to other people, and I don't know if I'd want to. But I don't need someone to tell me who to be, or if they even could.
