So, ladies... anyone else, like me, look forward to BRT?

That lovely moment when you arrive in home and pleasure of pulling off the confinements of the bra, setting them free, and having that 'ah, that's better...' moment. :D

I think I actually must be the only person that doesn't have that moment! The only time they're uncomfortable is if the underwire has started to poke out & stick into my boob, but apart from that I don't mind them at all.

Now, I wouldn't go so far as to sleep in one but I still don't find them terribly uncomfortable. :o

The weird thing is that I have slept in it at times, when I was being lazy, and I once had a friend staying over and noticed that I as still wearing it - couldn't understand it, apparently I'll give myself really bad back pain as i'm older...

I don't always feel the BRT moment, not sure why I sometimes do / don't, but not sure it's even that it as painful in the first place, it's more like a feeling of freedom, maybe especially after a long day :D

I'm more comfortable wearing a bra to hoist them up so they're not hovering about there like two deranged eyes with a mind of their own peering out at the world. It's always a good bra though; I spend a decent amount of money on my bras and I think that makes a difference.

I don't think I could ever sleep with a bra on, how uncomfortable! BRT is the best. Also changing from my shoes into fluffy socks-time!

Anyone else use their hands as a bra when running down the stairs bra-less? :o

I don't think I even necessarily notice it being uncomfortable the rare time I sleep in it. Probably another reason I'm strange :D

    Oh yes! :)

Lol never thought about it as I've been in stair -free homes (apartments / bungalows) for years, but if I lived in stairy homes I'm sure I would. They'd need it! :D

I always sleep in mine! Is it bad for my back!?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 776 ✭✭✭seventeen sheep

Mine is off the second I come in the door from work. My boyfriend often encounters* them thrown on the couch or the kitchen table.

And I could never imagine sleeping with it on! I used to when I was about thirteen, I think I read something in Just 17 (or similar) that sleeping in your bra would make your boobs grow bigger! :D Anyways it was probably comfy back then, when I didn't actually have boobs, and didn't really even need a bra. No way could I do it now.

*I had originally typed, "My boyfriend often comes across them ..." then I reread and edited! :pac:

I love BRT. Usually it happens in the evening around the same time as pj time, but as I work shifts, I may have a random day off in the middle of the week where I don't get dressed at all and the bra stays off! My mother has ginormous boobs (I think she is an F cup) and she couldn't dream of taking her bra off to sleep. I would hate that!

I had an awesome BRT moment just minutes ago when I took off my sports bra to have a shower après cycle.

    Nothing better.

BRT is the best time of the day... Let them wobble haha :P

I can never ever sleep in my bra I have done on one or two occasions and it was so uncomfortable :(

I normally can't even feel my bra?! I didn't realise most girls found them uncomfortable.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 776 ✭✭✭seventeen sheep

Mines not at all uncomfortable, and I'm rarely even aware of it during the day. But taking it off is just part of my home-from-work ritual, always has been!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 14,949 ✭✭✭✭IvyTheTerrible

I never even notice my bra when it's on!
The only time I like not to wear one is in the height of summer here, when it's 35 degrees or more. It's just an extra thing to keep the heat in. So I won't wear one. It's just less sweaty.
I'd never wear a bra at night.

In the winter anyway, it would seem too much effort to take off layers then the bra then put back on clothes, so I'd just be changing into PJs and be done with it :-D

Nooooo you pull it out your sleeve!

(Or is that just me? :o )

I enjoy BRT. Nothing to do with finding my bra uncomfortable though :) on what basis do you think most girls find them uncomfortable ?

Haha! I'd still have to remove the outer later I think! It wouldn't fit out my long-sleeved tops.

I guess I assumed that's why you were taking them off. So why are you?

Not just you!!! If I don't immediately take my bra off when I get out of my work clothes, I'll usually end up doing the sleeve shuffle at some point in the evening to get it off. :D

For me, same as I said earlier, probably more about a feeling of freedom.

If my bra was regularly uncomfortable during the day I'd go get measured and check I'd a right fitting.

To be honest I'm as comfy going braless as I am in a bra.

However going braless when out and about in public and at work etc is a no-no because of nipples when it's cold.

Which is why it's a symbolic relief to take it off when I get home - because it doesn't matter what I look like or who sees me! Same as I how I take out my contact lenses and wipe off my makeup when I get home. :) Nothing to do with comfort, just a psychological thing, I guess!

    yep, that makes sense :)

can imagine there's all kinds of reasons many women enjoy BRT.

Since finally finding bras that fit, I've not felt the need to take it off when I get home. Unless I've been exercising, that's a different story (sweatiness + bra = get rid of it quick)!

God, this made me howl. I thought I was a mad yoke doing this and that I was the only one :o

I always refer to BRT as Bra o'clock - nothing to do with bra discomfort for me, it's just what I do when I get home along with makeup removal etc... part of the relaxation process for me

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 12,449 ✭✭✭✭pwurple

Oh gosh no! I find it uncomfortable to be braless, especially to sleep braless. I've done it a few times and woken up in agony because I've managed to jab myself with my elbow, close an armpit down like a wedge on myself, or get hurt in some other silly way...They just get in the damn way all the time unless they are coralled.

It wouldn't occur to me to take off my bra when I get in, I don't notice it most of the time. Taking off shoes and socks though, yes - I'm much happier walking around either barefoot or in flip flops.

I sometimes wear a sports bra to bed when I have my period, I'm prone to tenderness unfortunately and it's just more comfortable.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 26,928 ✭✭✭✭rainbow kirby

Sports bra removal time after a long run is fantastic, the shower afterwards which finds the small chafed spots like a laser-guided missile not so much!

I don't take mine off as soon as I get in, but it doesn't go back on after a shower in the evening if I'm not leaving the house. I'm probably more free and easy at home about them than someone in my size range should be.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 12,687 ✭✭✭✭Penny Tration

I don't really feel my bra being on me (thank you, great fitting bras!), and I prefer them being on tbh. My boobs are very big, so without a bra, they'll just wreck the weak muscles that keep them pert!

That said, when I'm at my bf's, I take it off as soon as I get in from work. Makes groping more fun :pac:

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,199 ✭✭✭hollster2

When I take my bra off I say release the beasts hahaha best time of the day for sure :D:D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,624 ✭✭✭✭meeeeh

I don't sleep with bra but mostly it stays on during the day. Sometimes I would wear no bra under certain tops or dresses but that was easier to do before I breastfed two kids. I am b or c cup so bra really isn't something I even notice during the day but it always goes off when in bed even if only for a nap.

I don't have a BRT moment I'm afraid, bras never bothered me! I'm more of a MRT (Make up removal time) girl. No better feeling. Despite not having large breasts I would feel really self-conscious to go out wearing no bra, I won't even buy bras that don't have padding as I'm terrified of looking down and seeing my nipples showing in public. That would mortify me. Apparently for smaller breasts it's actually better to leave them without the support of a bra sometimes as long as you are doing anything vigorous as it prevents the ligaments in the breast tissue becoming too reliant on support from a bra which weakens them.

Jesus there's nothing like whipping my bra off. I hate the feel of them once I am home! Sometimes my boyfriend opens it and rubs my back for me, fcuking heavenly sh!t

The bra is down the sleeve and the shoes off even before the door closes behind me, if I'm in for the night. I agree with Precious Flower though, if I'm wearing make-up it's a really good feeling to get it off my face. I can't understand either wearing make-up every day or wearing your bra at night. I'd never be comfortable if I had to do both. :)

I'm very underendowed in the boobage department, I don't always wear a bra. Pretty much only wear them for exercising and work-type situations. Good god I love BRT though, I never feel right when I have one on. I have slept with them on in the past but just woke up in a rage. Also on more than one occasion recently I've worn one just for the thrill of taking it off. I'm mad, me.

When I can, I don't even wear mine. The toss up.... is it more uncomfortable to let them droop, or to hold them up in that horrendous wire contraptation?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,129 ✭✭✭LenaClaire

I have found some really comfy bras, and I am well endowed, so I like the support even when I am home.

However, as soon as I am in the door, my shoes and clothes all come off and on go my pajamas and fluffy socks :)

Yeah I don't get this at all. I'm more comfortable in most situations with my bra on rather than off. The exception being sleeping. I have knockers though so need the support. If I went into the office bra-less I'd probably be forcibly removed

My "aaaaaah" moment would be the makeup. I immediately feel more relaxed once the war paint comes off and the moisturizer is on.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,150 ✭✭✭✭Malari

I don't have a problem with wearing make-up either and only ever take it off before going to bed! :D

In order HRT (heels not hormones!!!), BRT and then MRT. All within 30 seconds if I can manage it.
Fell asleep with bra on a few times (drunkenly) and usually wake up with something digging in where it shouldn't be.

Ah, see I couldn't get this, as I don't wear make-up. An odd night out maybe, but otherwise no.

Seem here. BRT seems to be a huge source of relief and enjoyment for lots and lots of ladies but I'm one of the non BRT fans - I'd find it less uncomfortable to sleep bra-less than be bra-less otherwise, but I still feel more comfortable sleeping with it on too (clasps loosened though).

I don't understand how wearing a bra in bed would cause back trouble? Just curious as to how that would be (not disputing as I'm no scientician).

It could fit down some sleeves, or you could whip it out the front, but unless it has detachable straps, it's hard to get my own arm down my sleeve to take one strap off! Maybe I'm just wearing different kinds of clothes to the sleeve-removers...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,246 ✭✭✭iwantmydinner

Honestly it's none of my favourite parts of the day. But I know I haven't found the correct bra yet. Looking forward to that day.

I just unclasp, free the straps and whip it out the front with my top on.

Actually one of the things I do first is to take off work clothes and heels and put on some jeans and jumper. That is as comfy as I am prepared to go. I have one pair of old tracksuit bottoms that come out three times per year but I wouldn't leave house in tracksuit.

My bras are not that big but I would still think that pulling them out through the sleeve only streaches the straps. Anyway not something I would find very easy to do with my clothing.

My bras are never uncomfortable during the day but I love that feeling of liberation when I take off my bra at the end of the day. Virtual high five to the person who mentioned peeling off the sports bra after a run :D

I had a new but incredibly pleasant sensation somewhere along these lines yesterday: after work I changed out of dress and tights into a pair of loose cotton trackie bottoms. Of course they're much more comfy than work clothes but the feeling of the cotton on my legs was mindblowing yesterday for some reason  The trackies are old as bedamned so I don't know why they suddenly felt so good. Maybe it's because it's my totm and I'm extea sensitive to touch? Ah well, I aint complaining.

I have a special brushed cotton duvet cover I use during totm, as my skin is so sensitive at that time that I can wake up from the sensation of even my normal cotton bedding against my skin.

    We're delicate flowers.
