do you delete it or leave it as it is?? have you ever been caught out looking up embarrassing or "dodgy" stuff up that showed up in the history? I found porn links on my laptop once that didn't come from me, after my brother had used it, just laughed and said nothing.

I would delete history on a shared computer if I was looking up say counselling services or articles about depression or other issues that might cause worry to those who find it. I have my own password, on my own profile, on my own laptop and everyone logs in as a guest if they wanna use it.

If you use Chrome you can use "incognito mode" that doesn't log history and deletes cookies when you exit off your last "incognito" page.

Only my wife would be interested in what I get up to online and sure she knows what a weirdo I am already.

In work, I use IE for personal stuff, and chrome for work stuff, chrome is my default.

So if someone comes to my desk and asks me to look at something, I go to chrome, then they don't see the boards tabs I have open.

Incognito Mode is for private browsing only. You can rest assured that when you cross the window out, Chrome will not keep any files or cookies associated with the browsing on your computer. However, if you are at work and using the incognito mode to access pages that are not permitted, your activity can still be traced and your bosses will know exactly what pages you are looking at. Therefore, when we talk about safe browsing, we may mean different things. The other thing to take into account is that the incognito mode does not work that efficiently when we are signed into the Google account or the Google Cloud service.

Many people are using the incognito mode just because they believe that it is more private and secure. While incognito allows you to secretly browse the internet without leaving any traces behind, however, it would not be correct to call it entirely secure browsing. Google Chrome may prevent Chrome from logging in your browsing record but it cannot stop the router, your operating system or the websites too from logging the fact that you visited that website. Incognito mode does not hide your IP address which means that your location, your browser, operating system as well as your own address is not hidden by using Google chrome in this mode.

The only positive side of using the incognito mode offered by Google Chrome is that your history is not visible. However, that is only on the browser and it does not defend you from any breach or any rundown of various types of security threats. The only way to make sure that your browsing is secure over the internet is by using Virtual Private Network or VPN.

I wipe all cookies to ensure I've signed out of any accounts.

Too many 'hilarious' friends out there who might accidentally change a profile picture to that of a naked bum or tweet that you've found god and have quit your job or just post a status that you enjoy the music of Michael Buble.

Oh wait... I did all those to other people. Point still stands though.

You think you know your family and friends ? No you don't.. not until you've had your own DNS....

    sudo tail -f /var/log/bind9searchquery.log | grep porn

Just wow! ha ha ha ha

Got caught rotten when the family got a P166 back in 1997. I was 13. What else was I going to use it for?

After that, I became tech support for anyone in my class that wanted to cover their tracks.

    Or use tor.

    Or use tor.

    I have tested this stuff.

TOR is not good on Flash sites ... and leaks your IP Address ...
Just use a VPN that keeps changing and hides your IP.
I got deliberately banned off a site during the weekend .... and had the Admin Fcukwit
running around in circles for the best part of an Hour. Great Fun.

And ta thunk dat the Kunts back in Oireland back in the day wouldn't give me
an IT Jab ...... or, even today fur dat matter. Bunch a foooookin Clowns :pac:

No matter - the kindness of strangers has served me well in life.

And, yes - I always delete the Browser History ... I'll say no more ... ;)

I work on a shared computer. No. I don't delete it. People are shocked by very little. We all have the weird places we go. Nothing to be embarrassed about.

So long as its not illegal don't worry about it. No I don't delete it. To be honest I don't think anyone would be bothered checking. It's not that interesting.
