Thought it would be apt to post your Festival ante-post portfolios for everyone to enjoy / smirk at in one thread, instead of in bits and pieces on other threads.

Just had a speculative tenner on Ballycasey in the Ryanair at 95 on the exchanges

Pet Par is anything but slow imo, Don Poli I'm not happy with the bet, might lay it off, put it on on a whim. Fairly happy with small e/w bets on the rest, prices have gone the right direction for a few of them at this stage.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,941 ✭✭✭krustydoyle

Have done a few more than usual this year but some of them have gone to pot.

    Jezki 6/1 CH

Un Temps Pour Tout 12/1 WH

    Kitten Rock 50/1 CH

    On His Own 33/1 GC

    Silvinanco Conti 12/1 GC

    Tell Us More 16/1 Neptune

    Bellshill 20/1 Bumper

Stars Over The Sea 16/1 WH (Gone at this stage as hes around 50's now)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,340 ✭✭✭sting60

OK replying to a million messages(private) the biggest bet ever is 6/1 Jezki to be placed around 6/4 serious play to investment.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,135 ✭✭✭Gregk961

Just to temper enthusiasm-Everybody and their dog seems to be on jezki this year. Every year there is the usual bankers nonsense which is always a disaster, but the other side of the coin is the so called "shrewd angles" I.E Jezki this year, which are generally no more succesful.

Dont get me wrong Ive had him backed for a couple of months now but its not the certainty to place people are making it out to be. Its a really great (or very bad if your a layer) ew bet but thats it. Wouldnt go taking out a loan on it, plenty of dogs in behind who would love to run on into the places if jezki gets it wrong.

Apart from you sting of course. I know you the man, get your caravan on the basterd.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,172 ✭✭✭NaiveMelodies

Champion Chase- Mr Mole 33/1- now 10s
Bumper- Moon Racer 12/1- still 12s
    Ryanair-Cue Card 10/1- now 6s
4 Miler- The Job is Right 25/1- now 20s
    Gold Cup Djakadam 16/1 - now 12s
    Neptune- Alvisio Ville 16/1 - now 25s
    World- Monksland 16/1- still 16s

A winner from the above and I'll be happy! No major money down and I still can't see myself going in big on anything at this stage.
The handicaps are where the value lies now I'd imagine.

One big disappointment for me is that I didn't take a nice price on Don Cossack earlier in the season, huge fan and I think there might of been 20s plus around after his first run back.

When backing ante post i rarely throw much on until horses become NRNB so just small bets hoping for value. Mad to look at some rounding off the account €1 accum's months ago that look alright now. Their have been a few wrote off especially my largest bet on Aurora which proves the point of keeping it small ante post.

Just looking €1 acc Douvan 6/1, Un De Sceaux 3/1, Vaotuor 11/4 and Peace and Co 9/2 would have been nice to have a bit more on.

    €20 single - Carlingford Lough 10/1

I know I've mixed it up a bit in some races, but on the day I'll be siding with SDG and Jezki in their respective races. Probably Saphir De Rheu in the world hurdle.

Very Wood was going to be one, regardless of where he went. I like him. A lot.
He is still 16/1 for the RSA. This still represents value, imo.

There is one other for Wednesday in the novices and I'll stick him up here the night before. Not a tip. Just my only other fancy of the week at the moment. He's not a huge price so value gone but I'm backing him anyway ew

Decent bet Bumper, Kings Palace and Coneygree could do a right job on themselves.

I gave up that ante post lark for yrs as I never won much, and was definitely in the red by a wide margin. But I saw this fella in October win that beginners chase which has a record of chucking out an RSA type and mentioned here before his last run so chucked a bet on the RSA as the price looked value. He still has to turn up on the day. I generally stay away from ap as I said, I've a collection of ap bets in a scrap book at home as a testament to many a poor bet over the years :)

I don't like doing these sort of bets but I am leaning towards a Faugheen, Vautour and Sire De Grugy treble...... I think Vautour is banker material in the JLT.
