Are you sure? EI is scheduled for IAD all summer I thought?

Although ironically it came back from maintenance and did one IAD run and nothing for the last few days.

***ignore me, I see it’s on its way to Toronto.

Looking at some dates in May it seems to be on IAD a bit but not every day. Not sure if it’s set in stone what route it does or whether it gets moved around depending on operational factors.

I’m going to stop talking about EI-GEY, if it were a celebrity it would be taking out a restraining order against me for stalking.

Thompson Aero, the company that make the EI J seat; have a 5 year backlog on orders right now. They've been a phenomenal success story actually, so That's probably why the unmentionable airplane hasn't got Thompson seats, they would have needed to have been ordered 5 years ago.

Apologies for opening a can of worms😂in its defense EI-CVB brought me to Malaga last year and I’ve had rougher journeys on a motorway,it didn’t miss a heart beat

That's great for Thompson, they've clearly got an excellent product on offer but a five year backlog sounds extreme. Is that normal in the industry?

The original deal with Aer Lingus was for something like 200 seats to retrofit the fleet at that time, obviously that was topped up with the 757s, additional A330 arrivals and potentially again with the A321LR and with more new build A330s on the way later this year they'll need even more of those popular Vantage seats! So that order book must be pretty full.

I'm guessing because 'GEY was leased and already has a fully functional business class layout that it has to wait its turn as all other seats in Aer Lingus order book with Thompson are accounted for?

Interesting article about it and great for Northern Ireland development.

The 757 seats will get ripped out, cleaned up and fitted to the A321LR I'd guess

There’s not enough seats in the 757s for a start.

And it's not a 2-1-2-1-2 config per side like the NEO will be so completely different seats

The A321LRs cabin is about 7 inches wider vs the 757, I wonder would they incorporate this with the new seats (even if it's only an inch or two per seat) or just have a slightly wider aisle.

So the seatmap online must just be an interim measure.
Be interesting to see what seat is selected if the Thompson Vantage isn't it, there's plenty of choice out there now for single aisle lie flat business seats.

    The seatmap for A321LR operated flights has always shown the following layout, as expected;

    2-2
    1-1
    2-2
    1-1
    2-2

This is the same as the 757 just with an extra row at the back (from 12 to 16 seats). I’m all but certain that EI confirmed it will have the same seats as the 757s and A330s (bar -GEY of course). AusBT released an article a while back that claimed ‘HERE IS THE EI A321LR CABIN!’ but it was literally just old photos of the 757. No official renders have been released.

I'm feeling a wave of positivity today.

XLR appears to have been soft-launched.

It seems to be the best, most passenger friendly way for Aer Lingus to reach deep in to the North American market while winning business from connecting passengers in their Dublin hub. It would be nice to see some orders.

"Best, passenger friendly" I would not agree with that statement. Less cabin space, less overhead storage, smaller toilets, single aisle but at the same price.

As for orders, well EI are taking delivery of 14 A321LRs (which is the longer ranged A321neo) and have expressed interest in the expected XLR version.

Wide seats and leaving from your home town to where you want to go; That seems like the best one could hope for.

Not entirety fleet related but I had two flights last week. First one had mood overhead lighting. They were mostly blue with a few green sections at Dublin airport but were all blue when we landed. Returned on DVN, which was repainted.
    Didn’t notice the lighting.

Big bonus for us was check in desk 32 which took cabin bags before security. Same in Marco Polo, lady at check in didn’t hesitate when we asked to check in cabin bags. So much better than leaving them at gate or humping then around airports. Kudos Aer Lingus.

I used this service constantly when I fly EI. It’s brilliant in my opinion
