Light sleet / snow here in D11.

I wonder would a moderator be kind enough to change the thread title to reflect the snow risk for later tomorrow, overnight, Monday and Monday night? Thanks.

Snow could occur anywhere during this period but mostly in the midlands, west and north. The winds will be picking up quite a bit too with gales likely in exposed locations.

Things looking very favourable for tonight. A lot of the variables are conducive to snow fall and don't be surprised to wake up to a covering on Monday morning. The wind is going to carry the showers a good bit inland.

The air mass layer thickness is also highly conducive with very cold upper level air propagating downward through much broader layers in the atmosphere to the surface than is normal. In other words dilution of milder air at lower levels is very restricted and unlikely to stop snow falling at the lowest levels.

Showers may turn back to hail and sleet for a time Monday evening. Further snow showers on Monday night.

Certainly looks interesting tomorrow morning when snow could be lying on high ground.

Although this winter hasn't delivered it certainly was chilly at times. Quite a lot of frost and 2 separate days of lying snow here sofar.

Latest Euro4 still looks interesting but with the strength of the winds i think it will be hail unless well inland imho.
I put more trust in the Hirlam.

That's a good point and important to remember that on Atlantic coasts at low levels things look messy with hail, rain and sleet more likely.

Inland, particularly in the second half of the night, is good for snow right now.

The colder air is starting to arrive in to the west with temperatures taking a bit of a tumble in the last couple of hours down to mid single figures in Atlantic counties. Temperatures in the east still up to 10 or 11c in some places but not for much longer.

Very windy here in Donegal, temperature only 3c at present.

Only if you live on high ground :pac:

The showers will turn more to snow after midnight - some beefy ones coming in the next few hours should really make it a good way across the country. Always more hit and miss further east and more likely staying as hail or sleet at ground level on Atlantic coasts. Wouldn't be surprised to get a dusting.

That's headed for west Dublin now. A small shower but might get a flurry in the big schmoke in the next 30 minutes.

It was very wet and not a hope of it sticking but proper snow flakes to be seen, at least.

I'd say Dublin will be rain or maybe sleet witha few flakes mixed in around Blanchardstown and other high suburbs

Small sleet in Blanch at the minute, Clonee/Ongar border, what does '@ approx 90m' mean? Sorry
