    Hi

This is probably the most apt forum for what I am looking for.

Im just looking for a standard hand held torch with a bright light. Not looking for a bulky one, just a handy sized one.

not interested in the 5 different mode things ( High > Mid > Low > Fast Strobe > SOS )

I just want a bright torch that switches on and off and no strobing, SOS etc but I cant seem to find one without all these different modes.

    Can anyone recommend one ?

Thanks, they are saucy enough in price.

Is there a more budget version of them ?

Maglites are great for dispatching your quarry but useless and outdated by modern led lights in my opinion. Seen ones in aldi or Lidl for small money but very good or a Led Lenser p7 for a top quality compact torch.

I can personally recommend the Uniquefire UF T20.It uses one of those long big batteries. The torch itself is very compact and very bright. It has high low and strobe though.

What is your budget. This will return the best options if lads know what you want to go to.

to be honest only 30 euro.

Not being a dick, but most of the torches and lights we use would be for hunting and such so they need to be powerful and reliable. This comes at a cost with the average (semi decent ones) starting at €100.

There are a load of them on Ebay for €30 or so, but the problem is most are knock offs and as such they only last as long as the first set of batteries. They have issues with wiring, bulbs, etc. I bought one for sh*ts and giggles. It was good and worked great for about a month. It was a head mounted torce and had a low light LED for walking and a reversible high light for hunting etc. It would go for about 100+ yards. It ate batteries, but i bought a set of rechargable ones so this was not a major issue.

Problem was the bulb went within a month, and the torch (while genuine) was an old model and i cannot source a bulb for it. The newer version has a different bulb connection so i cannot get a replacement. I still have the walking light, but the better one is useless.

My advice, however much use it is to you, is to cry once and buy right. IOW break the budget and get a good lamp/torch that will not only meet your needs, but comes with a guarantee and from a reputable manufacturer. Then you won't spend €30, €40, €50 on crap only to have to spend €100+ on the good one in the end.

Advert has been withdrawn, it's a month old, and this is not the for sale section so please don't start posting links of adverts. The thread will turn into a list of links to adverts, with no actual help to the OP.

Just try and give the OP recommendations based on actual experience.

I have one of these in the glovebox , i use throw it in my pocket when heading out for a shot at night as back up ,it has a beam throw of about 100 yards ,nice and light and comes with a battery and charger, it is in around your budget.

To be honest i use a led lenser head torch now , it pisses all over most hand torches and you have your hands free ,great for night shooting and they are not much more than your budget and are fully rechargeable and come with a lithium battery

keep an eye on aldi or lidl for cree LED torches, great light out of them for little money with a head that goes from a tight beam to flood.

If you want something with a lith ion battery, then google ultrafire 501b.

This is a really good light and only costs something like €12 delivered.

so the 18650 batteries are not really available in a standard shop ?

What do you need the torch for? Work? Hunting? Rooting about in attic or shed? If there was a particular job for it you may get better recommendations..

18650 batteries aren't available in normal shops but are easily available on line. As a previous poster said - don't buy cheap ones.

I've bought them from this site in the past http://www.flashaholics.co.uk/batteries/lithium-rechargeable-batteries.html They're expensive and you need a charger but they'll pay for themselves if you're using the light alot.

If you're just after a general light that runs on normal batteries those ones in Aldi etc. are good for the money or just pick up one in the hardware, B and Q..

The are similar to the nm800 but you can also get a handle for it which makes it like a tiny torch and easier to use.

The page "lamping foxes" on facebook has a few people using them. crazy money.

I have inquired about them on many occasion from dealers ,and asked the simple question what makes this torch 200 odd quid better than a nightmaster and honest to god not one has ever gave me an answer to that question , the nightmaster has slightly a better spec, i know this is wildly off topic as the op only wants something for 30 euro but what is infuriating is lads on facebook pages not giving honest write ups on things , they are getting a few free bees and then bigging them up to generate sales ,some lads take them reviews as gospel and spend their hard earned money on the product only to be let down. The best one lately is the new wildhunter scope has the same light gathering capabilities as a Ziess or S&B anyway rant over , hope the op got what he/she where looking for in the end.

And you get banned off the site if you use a different product thats not from their sponsors? :D
They have a dimmer switch, dont see that making it worth so much though. robbery really, just like paying £200+ for the NM in the UK
