    Hi guys,

I have a Skoda superb 06 and 2 days ago I found there is problem while reserving or turning to left or right which wasn't before at all. I mean let's say I am parking at low speed I releasing the clutch and reserving back with full lock so the left tire shakes ( You can see it from outside ) + noise and a bit feel it in the steering from inside and this happen only with low speed, turning left is much but right is just a bit or might nothing so please could someone tell me what is wrong there or if it is a big problem ? I will go visit mechanic so if someone recommend me a good mechanic with good price in Wicklow Town or near area to Wicklow town ?

    Thank you very much.

Two things come to mind. CV joint or power steering pump.

When you put the full lock on, while not moving, do you get anything? If so i'd look to the power steering pump. If it's only when moving, even at slow speed, i'd look to the CV joint.

As always it's an amateur guess so perhaps someone with more experience could shed some light on it.

Yes when I move the steering to full lock right side I hear the noise and the shakes as well but when I do it left side it more less but it doesn't matter the problem still there whatever I move or not but all of them at low speed as I tried might be in high God knows.

Actually don't know what is CV joint or Power steering pump but I hope both of them will be cheap haha.

    Thank you very much.

The power steering pump is a system whereby steering is made easier by the use of hydraulics. The pumps are not cheap, but at the same time not overly expensive.

The CV joint (or UV, Universal Joint) is a joint/connection/knuckle at the end of the axle. It has a rubber "sock" or gaitor around it which has grease/lubricant to keep the joint in good condition. If this sock gets torn, worn, or perished it allows dirt and other fouling in and can cause wear of the joint.

The CV joint is a simple enough fix if you are anyway mechanically minded. They are also much cheaper than a power steering pump. I've done one on my Nissan Navara. It was the UV on the drive shaft. Cost around €25. Obviously it differs for different manufacturers, but it won't cost the earth.

As said above it may not be either of these two, but they would be the first things i'd look at. The only way i know to check, and again i'm not a mechanic, is to have the stopped and put the steering on full lock. If it's the pump you'll get some feedback. If the issue only presents when moving then i'd look to the joint.
