I'm looking on internet for lamps and torches an I'm not exactly great at knowing what's worth buying or not.
Torches with 1500 lumen to 5000lumen
Obviously the 5000 is better but what'd be the range on it?

I have the tracer stingray. Find it very good. A bit pricy but it has red and Orange flip up filters. It also has switch and dimmer on stock.

I've seen the tracers. Seem to be more popular online. I'm looking for basically lamp with battery pack and a torch for scope mount.
I know the battery pack lamp will be few quid alri but what of the torches. Is 5000 lm show a good distance.?
    How far of a range

Give us an idea what you want to do with it and at what distances. Did you want a hand-held or mounted to your kit?

I have a Light Force 170 and have nothing bad to say about it.

Just basically want to know about lumens. What does 5000 lumens mean as in distance wise etc
I'd like a battery pack and lamp and one to mount on the scope

    Whats the budget?

Nm800 is a good bit of kit on top of the scope, Crazy money here but can be gotten for half the price on their website. (half the price is not even exaggerating)

For a hand help lamp its hard to beat lightforce 170 and a lith ion battery pack. the battery packs are pricey but are worth it, they give 100% power till they die unlike standard ones.
Chinese stuff off ebay can be hit and miss and their figures seem just made up.

Lumens is a measurement of total illumination. I don't think you can guess range based on it. Like Candlepower. It's a non standardised unit of measurement hence the reason you might see a lad with a 1 million candlepower lamp and a lad with a 2 million power lamp and the 1 million one looks brighter. Now that is an exaggeration, but you get the idea. Although candlepower and lumens are NOT the same thing and should not be confused.

My Wildhunter is, at a guess, around 1,200 lumens (no info to be found on it, not even on WH's website). It uses Lit-Ion batteries as normal batteries would burn out in moments.

Now i'm far, FAR, from an expert on these things. I've Googled them to death over the years and frankly the discussion that occurs are on a level i don't fully understand (Google it and see what i mean). However something that even i can get is this. The higher the lumens the more power you need to run it. So if you got a 5,000 lumens torch, even with a lit-ion battery you could be looking at 20 minutes to an hour, whereas you could get 3 -4 hours from a 1,500 lumen torch.

Be careful what you look at. I've read reviews of the cheaper ones with massive high lumens that "burn out" after a few uses, last only minutes (one lad only got 7 minutes after each charge of his 6,000 lumen torch), and then the ones that simply don't work.

The main thing to ask yourself is what distance do you need? My Wildhunter is good to 500+ yards. Further than i'll ever shoot at night with the rifle.
