I just bought a 04 Vectra ls dti yesterday, drove it home about 20 miles, it was grand. No problem starting it this morn. Just drove to the shop, came out and now it won't start. It's turning over and trying to start. Anyone any idea what it could be? Thanks

Are you getting any lights on the dash? Is the coil-light coming on & going off? Did it have trouble starting when cold or hot or both?

The first thing to do would be to get it on a diagnostic machine. Even if the engine managment light is not on there has to be a fault code.

If it's something along the fuel system you could be looking at:
    • Fuel Pump
    • Clogged fuel filter
    • Leak off pipes
    • Injector seals

If it ran rough when driving, was down on power or rough when idling (blowing smoke) it could be a crank shaft sensor. A mate of mine had this as his car would not start (but turned over)and he got no fault code with it. Took him a while to figure it out, but through a system of checks he narrowed it down.

Last thing i can think off is glow-plug. However the coil light should show if this is working or not, but no harm to check or replace. They're not too dear. About €15 a piece.
