That's odd, especially at this time of day and the airport and flight path involved.

Maybe this is not the right place for this Q.

But anyway, I was looking at the arrivals and departures board at DA today, and saw flights to Shetland with Eastern Airways.

But when I went to their website I was unable to put Dublin in as a departure point.

Does anyone know anything about their schedule from DUB?

    Cheers.

Charter to Sumburgh for the crowd that works on the oil rigs w/ a Saab 2000. Every Thursday and maybe the extra odd day during the week.

So that explains it! I knew I'd get an answer, thank you.

BTW always wanted to go to the Northern Isles and the Faroes, got excited when I saw the flights out today to Shetland.

Must get back in my box now.

There are a handful of spaces left on this trip, if you're quick and can travel in March!

    Faroe Islands 2015 Solar Eclipse

I think they have an A319 booked, from hearsay.

    Aurora flight out of Newcastle:

The previous night's flight was operated by a CityFlyer ERJ-190 out of Edinburgh. Nice big windows.

Thanks for the link. It's a very specialised trip, and the cost of it!!

    Place looks amazing though.

Oh yeah, I forgot to add '.. and you're loaded!'

A Danish businessman booked-out all the hotel rooms a couple of years ago, when he realised that the Faroes would experience the eclipse in March, and the other tour operators have been struggling to find accommodation. I suspect that accounts for part of the price.

Are they not supposed to divert after to missed approaches?
You will probably find that as they knew the weather, they took extra fuel to give them the luxury of holding for longer, after all, that fuel will still be cheaper than a diversion and certainly more convenient to the passengers and crew.
Has to do fuel dump before return to CDG according to Twitter feed. Was heading for a 10hr trip to Mauritius so presume lots of fuel to dump.
The B747 takeoff weight is limited by its ability to land again within minutes of taking off. They do not have to dump fuel. However, due to the requirements of an overweight landing check, they can elect to dump fuel down to Maximum Landing weight. So if you see an aircraft waiting to dump fuel you can be assured that the reason for the return to land is small.

Oh wow. I did not expect to contribute to the front page of a newspapers website today.

    "Incredible footage", "terrifying moment".

    What absolute bollocks.

In fairness lads, i don't think he's sneering here.

The flightpath vaguely draws a plane! To me that's what he's getting at!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,179 ✭✭✭✭fr336

All I see is literally what they're saying - an 'interesting' flight path. Not really funny, but I don't see how it's connected to here at all :D

I see it now. I didnt want to be able to, but I do regardless :P
Its very vague. Maybe if he had ran too loops directly across from the airport it may be funnier:)

Any pilots on here, remember that pattern if you ever need to hold:P
