over Manchester so i doubt its doing a whole pile in terms of refuelling!

lethal machines though, the documentary about them for the Olympics was amazing.

RAF KC2 tanker from earlier heading back. Been missing a while so wonder if the Tornado was on a recon mission rather than a bombing run.

    EDIT>>

    Tornado just reappeared as well.

More than likely heading way north of Manchester! Military life revolves around training and exercises and more training and excercises.

Looks like its heading to Kinloss or Lossiemouth. They are up most days. (search for TARTN1 or MADRAS on FR24).

Usually see them circling off the West Coast of Scotland or off East Anglia.

Past few days they have been busy off Aberdeen.

If you see lots of FA20's there is an exercise going on.

If anyone is interested.. Search WWW in FR24. You see the Janet Airlines coming out Groom Lake (Area 51)

I had seen a few Tornado's heading to Lossie around 18.00 so might be practicing night flights.

That Gulfstream has made a rather rapid turn.. Wonder if its a TU-95 intercept? I would presume it would have been told well in advance of any exercises going on.. Or is that just a waypoint?

    EDIT..

Heading West so could well be an intercept..

Followed this tread for a few years and sorry for flooding the tread in the last 24 hrs but I have only got round to posting some of the unusual stuff (not civilian) now!

RAF tornado over Israel, on way back from Syria or Iraq????

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,919 ✭✭✭✭A Dub in Glasgo

    Should be Iraq

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 353 ✭✭masit

Just looking at planes that are on the ground in Amman. They track sound and around Israel. The Turkish that is on the ground tracked way down as far as Sharm al Sheikh and back up to Amman. The Jordanian from Beriut tracked out over the Med and around Israel and back up to Amman.

Just looking at Chicago, looks like EI123 diverted to Milwaukee earlier today, on approach to O' Hare from there now. There was bad weather at O Hare today I think?

FR24 does become a bit confused by test regs!

This particular flight was out of Little Rock, AR which is Dassault's North American completion centre.

Are those Hawks (T1a) trainer aircraft only? Would they do an intercept?

I recall in the early to mid 1980's a considerable compliment of RAF Hawks were fitted to use Sidewinders. Don't know if this is still the case.

That's a pretty horrible day. Looking at FR24 history, ORD-DUB had departure delayed 8 hours. Flight itself was only about 7 hrs!!
