Hi I'm not at all educated on aviation so keep with me here but Some nights early morning to be precise 3-5am I might hear plane/planes above and I check flight radar and there's nothing there? I've heard that military dont show up on flight radar?
I'm in the mayo area less than about 15miles from knock.
Just wondering what these could be?
    Thanks in advance

EI545 (EI-CVB) landing into Dublin atm is showing as originating from Shannon. Diversion or transfer flight?

That was diverted to Shannon earlier due to excessive holding at DUB. The aircraft's flight history tells the story :)http://www.flightradar24.com/reg/ei-cvb

Wind showing 25kts at DUB, 16kt crosswind 19kt headwind RWY28, must be fun for the pilots.

Sorry, I don't know the answer, but someone on the thread who knows more might be able to help.

Could it be a sound other than aircraft maybe?

If it's definitely a plane, then it's more than likely going to be US military.

Welcome to the joys of "point merge":D looks like a BAGSO1L arrival.

https://www.iaa.ie/news.jsp?i=389 will explain a bit more.

If you look at the track of the Cityjet from the top right of Vmoth's picture and equate it to the top right of my pic you'll see where it picks up the BAGSO 1L arrival. Makes a left turn to KOGAX then KUDOM, DW814 and DW815 all of this will be at 8000ft. Usually ATC will have an early turn towards LAPMO which is the Intermediate Fix (IF) leading to the Final Approach Fix (FAF) for runway 28.

It's unusual to have to do the full arrival except at busy times. The Point Merge system was introduced to reduce the amount of holding an aircraft would have to do. There is a similar arc for arrivals from the south, where these will be flown at 7000ft.

As a side note I don't know what the strange squiggle is at the bottom of the arc but hey Cityjet always seem to land in Santry on FR24:)

NIMAT1L is mine. On hand over from Scottish to DUB ATC, dub on occasion will offer the Nimat arrival into Dublin airport. As kind as they are I have to turn it down as I'm continuing to Cork:D

We're all enthusiasts. There isn't a day I don't pick up some info from here from people on both sides of the airport fence:D

When pick up rights were announced a few months ago, they had to sell the space on the aircraft first so has taken a while for the flight to kick in. Heard it climbing out west of ennis.

In Paris BVA waiting on 22.10 flight to DUB. They have us queuing to board etc at correct time but no sign of plane. No announcement of delays etc.
Quick check of FR24 shows inbound flight from DUB delayed and revised departure time for my flight. Best app for travelling, has come in handy so many times.
Flew Ryanair with 4 kids, they allowed us to check in all hand luggage on both flights. Am so impressed with their service, will probably use them more often.

Likely, it was G-CELA which has been in for maintenance and which did EXS051H on a similar track the day before.

Previous to that the last flight I have for it was 12th April.
