I hope everything is ok off the Welsh coast.

I wonder what's going on with this:

Thank you for the correction, but the escalation path you outline still sounds to me like there are 'penalties' for such an action. Compared to the option of least resistance. But that's probably better continued in another thread, sorry for derailing this one.

    ¬¬

I notice that the Kelowna DC-10 freight service to Brussels didn't materialise today.

Escalation path??? Penalties?? Nope none. The only response I've received from submitting discretion reports over the years was to inform me that on that occasion it wasn't needed!

Did anyone see the Jet2 go around in MAN this evening? Pax collapsed on an Emirates A380 at the holding point and the aircraft had to return to stand via the active runway. It was a bit too slow taxiing and Jet2 were instructed to go around from short finals. Exciting stuff:D

nope, looks like training as Mech1 said....

unusual time of night for it though!! must be really isolated there or else the people would be going mad at this hour of the night.

    Mech is no doubt correct:D

I was referring to the second part of Trebors post with reference to an Atlantic Airlines plane heading into STN.

Christ, look at the drama a sick pax causes on Twitter. An aborted take off and surrounded by police cars!

The 380 entered the runway at ATC's request and followed the "Follow Me" vehicle onto stand! Looks like they need an FR24 thread to keep up to date:D

    http://www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/news/plane-dubai-forced-abort-takeoff-9379526

Now I see how something out of the ordinary at an airport turns into a huge drama by the scaremongering press!

So what's this, a Virgin little red operating EI routes on a busy day? It's been back and fourth between LGW and DUB most of today, starting at LHR this morning http://www.flightradar24.com/EIN245/66d5ce6

Aer Lingus operate Virgin Little red on behalf of Virgin. Probably a temporary switch in the fleet.

I knew that :D But when you say switch - does that mean EI pax will today be getting on a "Virgin" aircraft? Do they cover over the Virgin signs with EI stickers? :p

Nope and we've had pax who refused to board because they wanted to fly EI... They are just in Little Red c/s :P

What did ye do to attempt to convince them to fly?

Would the passenger be booked onto a later flight f.o.c if this were the case?

A joke if they are rebooked free of charge, how ridiculous can you be not to fly on a plane because of the livery!

In that case I would agree. It was the exact same except for the livery (and mood lighting.)

But what if someone refused to board say an OMNI 767-300 instead of the scheduled A330? Do they have grounds to get rebooked? Keep in mind an OMNI 767-300 has no PTV's or WiFi.

I wouldn't say they've the right to be rebooked, compensated in some way but not rebooked free of charge. They booked a flight with EI so once EI have a plane available that's the main thing. Would be something to complain to EI about but refuse to board? Ridiculous!

So what do you do if you board a flight and the PTV/WIFI are broken? Will you look for compensation?

    I certainly would yes.

Based on what? Did the airline sell you a seat from A-B or something else?

I don't quite understand what your asking.

The fact that Aer Lingus have PTV's and WIFI and advertise that fact means that I maybe enticed to book when them as opposed to say US Airways when they used 767-200's without PTV's or WiFi. If I pay extra for that benefit and cannot avail of it then I will look for compensation.

Even if they don't strictly say you are paying for certain things, that they give you a rundown of everything you should expect on board such "frill" long haul flights is tantamount to the same thing surely. It's not like they're necessarily "free" things given away out of the goodness of their heart. But then maybe FR should start up the 738s to New York and see how it goes.

I have just read the terms and conditions for both EI and UA for a flight from Dublin to Boston, they don't mention their inflight entertainment anywhere in the booking process. So how can you ask for compensation?

Would you also ask for it if your meal was cold?

I wouldn't book with EI at all if you were in charge sir :p

All I'm saying is that people bash FR for similar things for just flights in Europe, surely a "respectable" airline such as EI should provide some compensation if its full service (outside terms and conditions) isn't available on a transatlantic flight? For some people such flights are a once a year if not once every few years event.

They advertise the IFE on their website, in an effort to get you to fly with them. That's my basis for an argument.

And don't be silly, if my meal was cold I'd ask them to heat it up :)
