You obviously don't want this specific job but if it's across the Public Service that they're doing this I'm sure someone could have them up in court if they wanted.

I dunno if they could to be honest. Irish in public services is protected under the constitution so they can easily demonstrate why it'd be a requirement for someone in the job to speak it.

You couldn't bring someone to court if a job required you to speak German and you didn't get the job because you didn't for example.

Yeah I understand that but I wonder how many Public Service offices you could ring up right now and only speak Irish to them and still get dealt with.

If everyone in the place is genuinely able to do their work to the same level in Irish and English then fair enough, it just seems like a bit of a box ticking exercise.

I understand completely. Was throwing out the typical nordie response to everything that might even hint at discrimination.

Have you read the thread on AH where the unionists in the north were outraged because the writing on the water mains covers were both in English and Irish!! We love an oul cry up there!!

What? I was thinking more along the lines of fry ups, breakfast burritos, omelettes, hash browns, French toast etc. I don't do healthy ****.

Woke up to my fridge not working... on the Saturday of the Easter weekend, after doing a big shop on Friday, and here in England most places take the Tuesday as a holiday aswell. Absolute disaster.

Sliced in half. Toasted (not too much). Loads of real salted butter. Rashers (preferably smoked).

I was on holliers in Sydney when it was on there.

It wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be. Most of the places I frequented hadn't a notion it was on. Most of the events were centred around one location (the big park, lots of marquees, merchandise tents, the works) and I managed to avoid any of the large group tours around any of the major attractions.
