    FT - Chelsea 1-1 City..

Good result for us although a city win would have been slightly better, 3rd and 4th are going to be very close as most are hitting form - Spurs with Eriksen/Kane, Liverpool with Sturridge/Sterling, Southampton with Schneiderlin/Pelle, Arsenal with Sanchez/Cazorla.

A win next week v West Ham could be massive in securing CL football.

Why do you think a City win would be better? I'd have been much happier with a Chelsea win. We're not going to catch them but Man City are only 5 points ahead of us. People keep going on about the fight for 3rd and 4th but I'm still looking up at 2nd. This is where Utd should be aiming for this season IMO.

Criminally underated player. Top pro and really stepped up to the plate when Wes Brown got injured in 09. I still think Fergie let him go a year or two early.

Am I right in saying he played in every single position in a 442 at some stage, including golakeeper?

When did sports witness become an slightly credible news source ?

They aren't really, they have stories on their site from other news outlets and they try and show if there's anything in it or if it's bull.

Chelsea are too good for City and City are too good for the rest.

3rd/4th will be more than acceptable for me this season. Then hopefully we can push on to a title challenge next year.

Varane marquinhos and laporte , all 20 or 21 years of age and all been linked with us recently , whose your 1.2 and 3 from those lads . Can't say I've seen much of them

Varane would be the best for me.

Marquinhos and Laporte would be about equal imo, although i haven't seen loads of those two players.

Neither Chelsea nor Man city matter to us this season IMO. We should be far far more concerned about Arsenal, Spurs, Liverpool and Southampton in that order.

3rd and 4th are very much up for grabs and at the moment, we are not playing as well as the above 4 teams.

In our next 3 premier league matches we are away to West Ham and away to Swansea. A few dropped points there and we are back in the trailing pack fighting it out for a top 4 spot. Our new squad is very much lacking in experience and I would worry a bit about whether they can grind out the results we need as we come in to the business end of the season.

If things work out well for us we should finish comfortably in 3rd
If things work out incredibly well for us we could finish 2nd
If we only maintain our current ppg tally then we will most likely finish in 4th

Speaking for myself, I'm a bit concerned about whether we will make top 4 with some of the choices LVG continues to make in relation to formations and player position selections. If he reverts to 5 at the back when Carrick returns along with Rooney in a midfield 3 then I will start getting worried.

At least we have Arsenal and Spurs at home , what you hoping for next weekend . I'm hoping spurs win , arsenal look on title challenge form

When was that? Even if you had only the most basic appreciation of the game you'd realise that having a good first touch is vital in all positions on the field. In general the standard of posters, with some exceptions, is good so I'm surprised by your comment.

I mean how it is more important for CMs than other positions. And as to when that was an unpopular opinion, well I'm not sure when it stopped being so, but this is the first time I remember so many different fans bringing it up as an important factor for them when discussing Carrick.

A definite Spurs win would be my first choice, followed by a draw. Arsenal have a lot of their key players back fit and the last thing we need is them to start clicking and go on a run at this stage of the season.

Arsenal are a shoe in for top four. Southampton will drop out of contention.

Spurs and even Liverpool are the teams Id be keeping an eye on from a Utd perspective.

Of course if all that money had been spent better in the last 18 months I think Utd would be comfortably in 3rd and even challenging City for second spot.

Real Madrid have said Varane is the future and will not be sold.

As Rio Ferdinand said, United should try and sign Godin.

Anderson is in Brazil and is set to be announced as an Internacional player tomorrow.
Anderson flew out to Port Alegre on Saturday to undergo a medical, which he passed. [men]

People were saying that in September. And then in October. Then November, December and January.

It's February now and they are still there and are there on merit. When you go through their squad, you can see why. It's not a fluke. They deserve to be there.

It's by no means a certainty that they wont finish top 4 and I'm amused as to why people think it is. They are at home today to Swansea and if they win, they are three points clear of Arsenal. The same Arsenal who are on a decent run of form and playing well. And yet they are still ahead of them.

    Goodbye Ando

The only thing he did in his time here at Utd that made me really proud and happy for him was that bullet of a penalty against Chelsea in the Moscow final in 08.

    Goodbye Ando

He showed a few glimpses over the years. I think it's fair to say he is far from our worst ever signing but considering what we paid for him, he's easily in the top 10.

I'd be quite worried about Liverpool too, almost as much as Arsenal.
Sturridge is back, and Sterling is in good form again. Coutinho is another top player, and I like the look of Can.
If they could get Mignolet on a decent run without a mistake, I could see them having a run for fourth. IMO 3rd and 4th are really there for the taking between us, arsenal, spurs and liverpool. Obviously Southampton are there too but I think they'll drop off.

Good result for us. Over the next few weeks a few of our rivals play each other so let's hope we can take full advantantage of the points they will take of each other
