Is that Campbelltown on the Mull of Kintyre? Most depressing town I've ever had the misfortune to spend a night in

If it were me (and I didn't, mysteriously, object to flying), I'd do a night train to Glasgow, and fly direct to Donegal airport - cutest airport in the whole wide world!

Yea, thx for letting me know. Was going to take the rib there if we got a fine day in 2015, but if it's so depressing I'll have to think of somewhere else to go

Its a scientific fact that everyone in Donegal has a UK registered vw golf gti. Its black and has tinted windows in the back.

    They proved it using science.

    another +1 for seat61

you can do bus from victoria coach station. You have to check in for the bus an hour before travel at 5 or 6 in the evening it's jammers, sardine city, and when you get on the bus it's a 12 hour journey at night so you don't see much http://eurolines.co.uk/ = https://eurolines.buseireann.ie/

Train is much better and faster. Difference in price is probably less than you'd speed on service station food on the bus. Go in the morning on the Virgin train if you can,

    there's also Megabus http://uk.megabus.com/England%20to%20Ireland.aspx

thanks for this.. I hadn't heard of Megabus.. the relatives are going to book on Monday. They are going to take the bus because of a fear of flying. They are even coming from USA by trans-Atlantic cruise! The cruise goes straight to London. Its not until May so they are in loads of time yet..

Just wondering has anyone taken Megabus from London to Dublin and how does it compare with Eurolines bus Eireann?
