Was anyone watching Skyfall on RTE1 tonight? Can you tell me were the sex scenes censored (if you'd seen it before, that is)?

No nips in the cinema version either if that's what you mean. Did it interfere with your Thomas the tank :)

Good. Because a friend of mine said that Tomorrow Never Dies had been censored on ITV - I couldn't believe it! That raunchy scene with Teri Hatcher where you see her wearing hold-ups - they censored it!

There was a bit of a erect nipple out of Judi Dench in the cold Church scene

They stuck a 10 second cut of the angelus in just as he was about to spill his beans.

    No need for that!

The James Bond franchise is very unique I think. There must be 30 or so films made at this point. He gets the ride in each film, yet I don't think I've even seen a nipple. Apart from probably his own.

She's a very good looking woman indeed.

Yup. ITV do love to censor movies. But even RTE2 has censored James Bond as well. License to Kill is probably the best example as still holds the 15's rating. But a few cuts and it's 'grand' to be shown during the day.

Even Only Fools and Horses gets the cut-treatment from time to time so it can be shown during the day. It's stupid when you think about it. Just show certain episodes at night.

Does anyone else think that one particular scene in that film is a tad bit rapey? When he sneaks quietly into the chambers of the Asian chick (with whom he's had a brief conversation earlier) and slithers up behind her totally naked in the shower.

I didn't get to see it tonight but I do have it on DVD so I might stick it on sometime.

Not at all. I've done that several times actually. I always assumed most people do.

That's the way Bond likes it.

In the book 'Casino Royale' Fleming wrote the following about Bond and Vesper:
And now he knew that … the conquest of her body, because of the central privacy in her, would have the sweet tang of rape.

Never seen a Bond film I've liked. Not too bad when you're twelve maybe, but otherwise ridiculous nonsense.
Daniel Craig is the most expressionless actor I've ever seen, even his lips barely move when he's talking, pretty sure if he smiled his head would shatter.
previous Bonds at least had a bit of charm about them and could carry off the role in the slightly "Carry On"manner they had.
This guy is like one of those drones being remotely operated from several thousand miles away.

I liked the old style ones as a kid and I had high hopes for Bond with the Craig remake. Casino Royal gave us a brutal version of Bond but as the movies go one they're reverting back to type. Constant shots of pretty or rich places and Bond with his gadgets..

Everything is censored on UK TV as there are many moaning michaels who get upset at everything. I'd never watch a film on the free UK channels

Have you never been to a late night screening of one of the recent 'Bonds' where the objective is to shout 'Kerchiiiing!' every time an obvious product placement occurs on screen? :)

And we dont have them here? You cant mention anything that might offend a few catholics without a complaint to BAI. Sure the BAI allegedly put down such strict rules on the marriage equality referendum coming up. That a journalist that wrote a book the history of gay people in Ireland, was not allowed to speak about the book without an opposing side present. Although it was a factual history book, people had to oppose it

Will ya shtop - everyone knows there's no gay people in Ireland. That only happens in them foreign places.

    Wo ist die Gemütlichkeit?

What planet are you living on? Is this your first Bond movie?

I presume you're taking the piss.

I once saw Die Hard on TV in America at lunchtime. It was about an hour long!

The idea is that Bond is to revert more back to the Bond of the original Fleming books, a nasty character, very sadistic in many ways, that's one of the reasons they picked Craig over a couple of other 'smoother' actors.

You'd have a job - Film Four/Channel 4 have the rights to the Die hard series except DH 3 which is the BBCs. Dunno why that anomaly occurred but ITV have none.

That said ITV do **** up films even without taking ad breaks into account - showing Bonds 16:9 ratio is just daft esp when the sponsored bookends are in widescreen format!

On D Spy there is a thread running complaining that a "best line" had been cut out of the ITV screening but no one seems to know what the best line was !!
I watched the ITV screening as I hadn't seen Skyfall before ---- I should have watched the RTE version shortly after and compared them !
No I am not that sad ......
    Anyway I enjoyed it .
    Happy New Year.

    Regards.

The best you'll get from any complaint to the BAI about boobs on the telly is likely to be an insistance that some bloke has to get his ball bag out, for like, ballance you know.....
