American Crime Story is an anthology series which will focus on a new “true crime” story each season. The first season (subtitled The People v. O.J. Simpson) will explore the O.J. Simpson trial told from the perspective of the lawyers and how a combination of prosecution confidence, defense wiliness, and the LAPD’s history with the city’s African-American community gave a jury what it needed: reasonable doubt.
David Schwimmer will play Robert Kardashian, a member of OJ Simpson’s legal team. Cuba Gooding Jr as OJ Simpson and Sarah Paulson as Deputy DA Marcia Clark

    BUMP

    Thought this was pretty good.

Travolta just looks downright odd these days. The only way I can describe it is a leather hand-bag meets a gargoyle head that you might see hanging out of some Godforsaken Gothic Church.

I'm playing catch up atm, nearly done with season 1

Are you mixing it up with American Crime? American Crime Story is a different show. The first is ABC, the second is FX.

American Crime Story is a brand new show. I thought it was surprisingly good. Excellent cast.

This is starting at 9pm on BBC 2 Monday February 15th

Enjoyed the first show. God Schwimmer got old looking and Travolta looks like a gargoyle.

I watched a few documentaries on OJ a few months back so it's familiar enough, looking forward to episode two.

I'm enjoying it so far, though I cringed when they shoehorned in references to the Kardashian girls.

I enjoyed it a lot more than I thought I would when I initially saw the cast lineup. Looking forward to seeing how it progresses.

I have mixed feelings about the second episode. I thought Cuba Gooding did a great job and they managed to build up the tension giving a genuine sense that OJ could get shot at any moment.

However there are a few minor things that annoyed me. Firstly, Travolta is just creepy as hell in this. Secondly, yet again they completely unnecessarily shoehorned in the Kardashian kids. Finally, I don't know if the scene where Robert Kardashian tells the Simpson's that OJ is dead actually happened but if it did, what a staggeringly stupid thing to do without knowing for sure.

Agree with all of that. Plus I really don't like that DA woman that seems to just roll out clichéd line after line. Plays the ball buster a bit too much. Show is only average so far but will stick with it

I watched it live in the early 90s. I'm not judging the show so much as the younger audiences reaction to it. It was the birth of reality TV (the Big Brother founders were watching too).
And yes....the real life characters were just as overblown. They knew damn well that to get a guilty man off they had to turn a court of law into a circus. Let the lawyers and judges come play on their stage. And it was the first time ever that the now famous "race card" was played by a black man.
We've had the car escort / chase /parade , a few more eps until we have "If the glove don't fit, you must acquit".
That scene where a future leading character says "..he's not one of us"...

"..he is now, he's being chased by the cops." - sums up the mood of the times then and now.

Well I nearly puked at the Kardashian overload in the first three minutes. I am stunned that someone actually wrote these lines and that other well paid people thought that it was a good idea to film them and release them to the public!!

Robert Kardashian imparting these pearls of wisdom to his brood which obviously fell upon deaf ears. "We are Kardashian's and in this family being a good person and a loyal friend is more important than being famous. Fame is fleeting, it's hollow, it means nothing at all without a virtuos heart."

Perhaps the show writers had a competition to compose the sentence least likely to have ever been heard by a Kardashian.

However other than everything relating to the Kardashians this show is staying consistently good. Great pacing and really evokes the feeling at the time. Sad to see that the state of race relations in the US has not improved in the last twenty years.

Seen the first two and really enjoying it so far. Like Making a Murderer it's hard to believe a lot of this actually happened, mental!

David Schwimmer simply cannot act and is cringeworthy as R Kardashian to the point were I turned off

He is pretty bad. Though not as bad as shoehorning the Kardashian kids into Episode 2. Ughhhhh

John Travolta looks like a waxwork dummy.

Not really shoehorned in at all surely. It is a part of the story and their whole "position" today is based on this OJ trial. In a way the restaraunt scene in ep 3 goes to show how people like that end up how they are. We may have no interest in the Kardashians but quite obviously a lot of people do and it is one of the effects of the trial still being felt today.

It's cheesy as hell but enjoyable. I'm reading the book at the same time which goes into a lot of detail about OJs other assaults on Nicole and the cops in awe of him and basically letting him get away with beating her up. The crazy thing is they were arresting him in 1989 for assaulting her and he just drove away and nothing ever happened to him. To say the cops actually set him up for the murder was the last thing that would have ever happened, they loved him.

Agree with all of this, they were my exact thoughts on the kids and Rob K telling them all he's dead.
    Did that actually happen?

The way they were pictured watching their dad on TV and the repetition and spelling of their surname numerous times didn't just look like shoehorning, it looked like product placement. I'd believe it too - their mother seems like she would sell the Kardashian brand via any means. And here am I doing it now! :D
I understand fleeting mentions of them of course, due to who their father was, but the above looked like blatant promotion, not incidental mentioning.

Enjoyable trash. Jeez, I don't think David Schwimmer has aged much at all - maybe he looks old because of the grey streak in his hair which Robert Kardashian had.
I agree too on the weirdness of the way he told OJ's family that he had possibly killed himself.

In this show they have kris Jenner basically saying that O J is guilty but I did she ever publicly declare whether she believed he was guilty or not ?... Has any of da kardashians ever came out and said what they believe?????

Can't believe people were actual out cheering on OJ when he was on the run...

Just watched the third episode, enjoying it so far...

Surprised there isn't more discussion about this show. I'm following it on BBC and am really enjoying it so far. It does come across as a bit hammy in places but it's still captivating none the less.
