You just can't beat a donor kebab from a decent takeaway

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,807 ✭✭✭Custardpi

When sober a nice spicy Thai takeout. When pished I look for a good chipper that can do a batter burger & onion rings. Lots of salt & vinegar. Cardiac ward here I come!

Another one here for KC's. It's about a half hour drive for me but I know people who drive for over an hour for it. Well worth it.

Sorry everyone... But it truly is KCs... I lived in Dublin for a few years and only rounds KCs when I moved back... Truly great fast food... No sit down... Queue - Order - Queue - Pay and Collect...
For me I get the new Sweet Chilli Beef Pitts, Chips and a Chicken Bombay... So hungry now!!!

The best food I ever had from a take away was deep fried haggis. It was unreal. I tried it again the following day sober to make sure and it was divine.

Al kebabish donor kebabs in Athlone. No kebab in Dublin can rival it.

I've joined slow food ireland recently so none.

It was so much easier to blame it on Them. It was bleakly depressing to think that They were Us. If it was Them, then nothing was anyone's fault. If it was us, what did that make Me? After all, I'm one of Us. I must be. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things.

Garlic chicken sticks and a chicken black bean all in one. Savage

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,573 ✭✭✭✭kowloon

    Ishkander's Dame St.

This would be my pick, also Zaytoon do some damn fine kebabs.
Had some very nice Unagi in a place that is attached to a pub in Dublin but I can't for the life of me remember the name or exact location. It was a long time ago and I want to go back there when I find it. The last place may not meet the grade for fats food though, as there was no option for takeaway.
KC's in Cork will need a visit next time I'm back visiting family.

2 or 3 of us jump in to car and drive just for KCs to Cork for 40miles. :D Who ever drives gets his KCs bought by passengers.

Probably going to be the most unpopular post on boards today but my vote goes to Abrakebabras Doner Kebab and Taco Cheese Fries!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,251 ✭✭✭Boscoirl

Was disappointed in KCs, the burger was tasty, but the chips were a disappointment. They don't put the salt n vinegar on in the place( they didn't the two times I was there), a cardinal sin IMO

Donkey Fords in limerick is awesome, great battered sausages and chips

    That or a tasty kebab

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,026 ✭✭✭grindle

Another for KCs - Polynesian w/bacon is worth the half-hour drive. They should do a licensing deal for Jackie Lennox's chips (when cooked properly) and the Fish Wife's burger it'd go from the best takeaway to the perfect takeaway.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,839 ✭✭✭endofrainbow

Doner Kebab - light on the chilli sauce, heavy on the garlic, not so much veggies and plenty of gooey doner meat

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,294 ✭✭✭YellowFeather

Pizza with loads of random drunken toppings. Extra cheese, pineapple, tuna, more tomato sauce, mushrooms, peppers, sweetcorn - and then garlic / bbq dips.

I am so ordering this tonight.

I'm not a fan of KC's either. Lennox's is way better.

People mentioning Supermacs and Abrakebabra must normally eat dog food for dinner.

Zaytoon is overrated. Their freshly baked pita bread is their only saving grace.

Kaleli kebab in tralee is where it's at.

Another vote for KCs, though I endorse it with the caveat that I never thought the chips were that great - almost everything else on the menu is superb though.

Seeing as I don't live in Cork anymore, chicken kebab from anywhere or burgers from McDonalds are fairly reliable.
