Yeah they banned me from their Facebook page for that.

    That's awfully petty

Fair enough, they may not want people advertising stuff that they don't stock, but to ban someone at the mention of them is a bit silly.

I got banned as well, they knew I was a mod here, they had asked for permission early on to publicise their endeavours in retrogaming sales here, and I seemed to get dropped from all things RAGE, ah well.

Rage won't have them and to be honest they are terrible, I got banned from their facebook page for recommending RGB cables to someone that was looking to improve the picture quality of their old games

Best place to get them is ebay, they cost next to nothing but just make sure you get them from a good seller, don't cheap out. I recently bought a new PS RGB cable from Amazon and went cheap but it was just a composite cable with RGB connector. Consolegoodsuk are probably the best to buy from when it comes to RGB cables.

Don't cheap out remember for a small price this is going to I prove every game you play.

You can afford to cheap out as long as this is the cable you buy:

    http://www.ebay.ie/itm/Sony-Playstation-PS1-PS2-PS3-RGB-AV-Scart-Lead-Cable-/291366265227?pt=UK_Video_Games_Cables_and_Adaptors&hash=item43d6c8618b

Myself and a few others have that exact cable and the picture quality is amazing.

And it has the handy guncon input built in also as well as an audio output half if you wanted to hook it upto an amplifier.

Good to know in case I try to mod my RGB cable again and ruin it like last time :)

As I said either use the trusted sellers I gave you there or else the link that Doge just gave which seems like the cheapest option.

Some TV's only have one scart socket wired for true RGB. Try the AV1 channel socket.

Have a look around in the settings of your tv, while it is switched to the scart channel with the PS1 running in black & white. Have a look for PAL/NTSC colour modes (not colour settings), as I know on my tv it needs to be manually changed otherwise it will display an NTSC picture in b/w.

Shouldn't be needed, if its an RGB cable and the SCART is properly wired up then the PAL/NTSC composite video is not used - The RGB colour signals are used to drive the picture.

This is the second RGB problem PS1 on here recently... wonder if a crap batch of cables is out there..

It's something I definitely have to adjust on this flatscreen tv I use. I don't game on it, but when testing console mods or anything I use it as it's the handiest for testing. With proper rgb scarts into the rgb socket I still have to set the colour mode. If left on auto it'll make the picture jump, & sometimes it'll display in b/w too

But there is no colour mode with RGB, its more likely the signal levels are too high for the TV. Nintendo seems to particularly apt at outputting crap AV signal levels.

Just checked there, it's 'Colour System' on this tv. If it's set to auto, the picture will usually flicker on an NTSC signal, if I then change it to NTSC it's fine. If changed to PAL on an NTSC system it won't display right either. Weird one, maybe it's just the way this tv handles it or something?

Ya probably, you can be sure the SCART testing is pretty far down the list to things to test on any TV manufacturers test plan these days !!

It'll be dropped altogether soon enough !!

Yeah probably right actually, that'll be a sad day, not that I use a lot of scart these days actually! I hate the way hdmi doesn't auto-switch!

Got a really nice little Samsung TV, great picture off it but the scart is **** off it. Looks great except the top of the screen is in composite, it's really distracting.

Could it be the type of mod chip/installation method? There's also the Pal60 colour mod - http://www.psxdev.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=47&t=444
