Never got in to pick up on my last outing here with FC United f Manchester v Benfica B .. 0-1 to Benfica B. goal came in 85th minute.

hopefully some better luck with this one....

    Cuba v New York Cosmos

    http://www.dw.de/new-york-cosmos-arrive-in-cuba-for-historic-match/a-18489731

This game takes place at 10 PM GMT tonight and is a pretty historic game in that the Cosmos are the first US Pro team to make the trip to Cuba since 1978 after the recent efforts of Obama to commercialise and pillage the place again ease relations between the two countries and open up trade again.

This is no ordinary friendly as it is being simulcast on ESPN 2 and ESPN deportes with quite a bit of interest generated given the circumstances. The Boston Red Socks had been trying to get the slot but it was decided that soccer was the preferred route.

Pele is on board the flight with the Cosmos as a past player and also their ambassador now a days. That should give these guys a bit more of a pep in their step for this occasion too.

On the Cosmos, they ply their trade in the second tier NASL of the US leagues.. however they do have some money and have former Real Madrid legend Raúl up front. They also have former Villareal player Marcos Senna in their ranks. They win pretty much every week and are right smack bang at the top of the table with 19 points from 9 games. I'm expecting their fitness levels to be above that of Cuba's.

Cuba have not played a game since a set of friendlies at the end of March losing 3-0 to Jamaica and beating Dominican Republic 0-3. Their last competitive game was 18-nov-14 losing 1-2 to Haiti.

I can only find this game on bet365, no sign even a sign on oddschecker.

Do I trust Raúl to plop more goals in the Cuban net than Cuba can do at the other end? yes.

New York Cosmos win @2.10 for me.

Yeah... that will be a nice politically neutral draw.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,293 ✭✭✭Dio On The Doubles

Really hope they don't have it wired up as a dodgy draw. Haven't staked too high with it being a friendly though.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 508 ✭✭✭Mr. Green

    Football is unpredictable
Equal game and even deletes Panama could play in a draw
But an own goal in the last minute of the first half...

And Argentina is weaker than I thought

Messi is 9/4 to be man of the match on Saturday. The form he is in surely that is value. Collected it in the 2011 final

Am I wrong or where people throwing money on Colombia for the Cops when they were in the world cup? Think they were 7/1?

I backed them back then (youwin were biggest at the time so joined for a matched tenner)

Pirlo to hit the post 16/1. Pirlo to score 11/1. I have it in my head that he's going to score.

The way hes playing right now everything goes through him. Even if he does not score himself he will surely be making goals

    Not on list of goalscorers.

Bet365 don't have any dual forecasts available for the Copa Americana. :(

    MOD

Certainly as it comes to the Copa America and all the links to previews, squads etc, this thread might get a bit messy with the CL also still on the calender.

    Gotten out of this bet.

Friendly played on a muddy pitch in crap weather - Better scenarios to be betting on that that. From looking at the forecast its not gonna let up either.

4-1 Cosmos with not long left.

4-1 Cosmos with not long left.

Yeah man was kicking myself seeing the score go up. I hit the sack just after it went 1-4. Seems Cosmos just tore them apart.

I let the crap weather in Havana and possible political intervention get in my head. Lesson learned on sticking by my convictions.

Price went from 2.10 when I posted all the way to 1.66 pre game on Cosmos win.

    Kashiwa vs Urawa 2.05

Urawa top, won their last game away 6-1, undefeated so far this season
Kashiwa have the worst home record in the league, P5 D3 L2, having played mainly mid to bottom league sides

Edit: useless...3-3 and they were lucky to get that

Followed you on that, odds seems very generous

Urawa 1-0 up after their first attack 2 mins in!

Edit: 1-1 after 9 mins, match seems full of goals
