Maybe but I have no idea yet. All I can tell you is what you see above. The channel is invisible in that it has an upgrade screen - but it is carrying UTV in HD.

There is currently no SD equivalent although earlier today something was done on 10.743 H - the mux with RTE and other Irish services. I do not however know what was done but something on that mux was changed in the background this afternoon - it would not help to speculate - but there is still room I think for another service there - currently 6 SD and one HD with four radio services - so it COULD go there but nobody knows yet.

No tests on Saorview yet. I thought an announcement about carraige deals would have been made by now.

To be fair to the poster on DS thread who spotted the test did say he wasn't sure as it was showing an upgrade screen. I was thinking if it was for UTVI HD wouln'd it show this programme isn't available message for UK viewers and also wouln'd UTVI SD tests appear on the irish transponder 10.743 H at the same time.I think there is room for one more SD channel on that transponder.

That appears to be the speculation in that thread also - http://forums.digitalspy.co.uk/showthread.php?p=75690562#post75690562

It couldn't be the actual UTV Ireland if they haven't started broadcasting. It is common for another feed to be used for testing.

The channel does not go live until 1st January 2015. Until then they will be various test broadcasts.(Most likely to be carrying their own channel UTV) I suspect they must be up on the Sky epg before the XMAS epg freeze and probably will be showing promo videos for the duration of the epg freeze to launch date.

I am a Sky subscriber and a movie I had recorded some time ago just showed up in the planner with a UTV Ireland icon. No sign of a channel in the guide though.

Does UTV carry a lot of the same itv programmes that TV3 carry? Like (clears throat) X factor and I'm a celebrity?

Running trailers now on the frequency in the first post in this thread.

Not sure if this is a HD feed or not but the quality looks like it might be.

Wonder what number they'll have in the Sky epg.

There are two test channels on Sky, one in HD and one in SD. It will be 116 on Sky, HD if you have the HD pack and in SD if you don't.

116 UTV SD - So they are basing it on HD pack and not a HD box (as RTE2 HD is 102 on a HD box with or without the HD pack). I wonder will UTV HD be further up the EPG as well or a manual tune in....? That's fairly poor if it is 'add channels'.

Can't be certain of this until it goes on the EPG, but that would be my guess.

Guess we'll just have to wait and see.... A further thought would be that if it was part of the HD pack and not on the EPG, then would it even be viewable under 'other channels' for a non HD pack sub..... Be sticking to ITV HD in that case.

As for TV3's SD 'soft vision' - it should just go...

Channel 116 is the highest unused slot on Sky Ireland. It could be put into a higher slot but that mean other channels get bumped down a slot. It could be followed it's HD or SD alter egos. Probably a rake of itv plus channels would fill the empty slots between 116 to 120 on the Sky EPG.

Just did a retune on both Saorview, and a free to air box. Cant see anything on either of the EPGs that resembles a test for UTVI. What is the current channel name or is the station encrypted? Currently exclud encrypted stations from the search as it brings up far to many channels.

Encrypted when I check earlier today ..... so I guess it is a Sky test not a FTA test

UTV Ireland HD now on 116 on Sky

    SD : 267

    .

( I have a HD subscription, I'm presuming it's the other way around for those who don't )

It is but it you can't view it.. Looks like I'll be sticking to the FTA ITV HD channels when they have duplicate programs on. Seems like they missed a trick here. Surely they could do as RTE2 HD and put the HD version on ch 116 for HD boxes and totally out manoeuvre TV3 cr@p vision? (I guess it's cheaper carriage costs for them or some such to do it only via HD pack).
