Really interested to see how Kings Palace takes to chasing tomorrow. Around an even money chance but I think he could well get beat by the in form Hobbs team so I will be siding with SAUSALITO SUNRISE in that race. Expect Kings Palace to come on massively for the run and be a serious player over fences but tomorrow might just be a chance to oppose this season.

    read my mind there moscow

the one horse I'm really curious about
could win this easily if it jumps well but there's an if
put a small bet on at 11/8 though

more I look at the big race the more I can't see buywise out of the frame
if he jumps well he must go close to winning here

love this meeting, doesnt get much better than this

Cant make any sense of the PP Gold Cup chase but I've somehow plucked CAID DU BERLAIS out of the whole lot so I'll be siding with that animal tomorrow.

    Kings Palace all day long.

Paddy Power looks a poor renewal. I don't see a gold cup contender. Johns Spirit could serve it up to them again.

Got word for Indian Castle in 230, he is in great form at home and connections are expecting a big run. A friend of mine works with the owner.

    Cheltenham 1:50

Safran de Cotte sticks out for me here as one who will get the trip in this ground and looks to be on a winnable mark. He also has a very decent record fresh and should be ready for this. 14/1 is overpriced. I’m also going again with Golden Chieftain as he is sure to win at some stage as his mark comes down and has a decent record on soft ground.

1 Point win Safran de Cotte 14/1
1 point win Golden Chieftain 12/1

    Cheltenham 2:30
Cantlow ran poorly for me on his seasonal reappearance, but he has a decent record on soft ground and hasn’t really seen it since a few very good novice performance’s a while ago. He also ran a very good second in one of these c&d races last year of a higher mark against a very good yardstick. 25/1 is a very decent price with vcbet and well worth a shot.

    1 Point win 25/1 VCBet

was torn between this and buywise myself
12/1 looks a biggish price for it so will have a saver ew on it in case

Some round of jumping that was from Kings Palace, Like a stag he was. Very impressive.

Looked a bit lazy on the run-in I thought. He had it comfortably won at that stage though. Impressive all-round.

Jumped very well as you'd expect but still wouldn't bank on him out battling animals of levels come better races. 10/1 for RSA a putrid price imo

good performance is all, not much strength in depth there
he'll be found out in better company, putrid price indeed

I know he's winning over 3m at Cheltenham but really not sure if the hill is made for him. The JLT is the only Cheltenham race I'd consider backing him for (if price was right) as not short of speed and his jumping could be a weapon in that.

That's a staying performance of the absolute best from Sam Winner

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 23,961 ✭✭✭✭mailburner

thought geraghty was poor there, looked to be travelling best
let sam get away and then too much too do

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 145 ✭✭Dubron

Some ride from Twiston-Davies there, Sam Winner definitely looks a Grand National type.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,224 ✭✭✭jimjamcos

He'd have to be seen as a GN horse after that effort!

Agreed...Im not one for slating jockeys but that was an error, left far to much to do despite travelling and finishing the better of the two.

Can't make head nor tail of this year's PP. Small e/w bet on Kapga De Cerisy for me.

He has put up plenty of big priced winners before, not his fault the horse wasn't out to win today.

Amazing ride by STD, wide the whole way around. Horse is only a 5yr old as well. Will be one to watch in the coming years.

Pineau wasn't trying, as the vast majority of the previous season's Grand National winners tend to do on their seasonal re-appearance. About time the stewards cracked down on this.

backed it last nite ew, knew my fate before the race sadly with the drift and shoulve waited so my own fault, just thought 16s looked nice ew at the time
    its a pretty sickening feeling
think it was 33s on the exhanges

Ludicrous comment. Would be happy to oppose him with at least 5 of the current RSA market

That's what makes racing fascinating, its as all about opinions. RSA is not often one by the classiest horse in the race but by a grinder who can jump - Kings Palace ticks those boxes for me.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,681 ✭✭✭BumperD

Very Wood will be a tough nut to crack in the RSA.

He's about as far from a grinder as I can think of! He is a classy horse but, Jesus, he's no grinder. The likes of Very Wood are but KP's main strengths are his jumping and how he travels through races, imo

    Bilash 14-1 ew 5.45
Won a similar race two back . Good value for a place/

Too slow for the National these days. Since they changed the fences slow plodders aren't going to win it anymore unless it's a bog.

ah i take my comment back on aidan. he puts in the effort to write up his thoughts on a race and contribute, sorry about that aidan.

im up for the day just about so all good.

Bilash squeezed out of it at the start. Second from last ,no room to wind horse up. Opened up late on,ran on into 2nd at 18-1 .
    Unlucky I feel .

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 36,907 ✭✭✭✭BorneTobyWilde

    Lamyaa
    Strong Flame 7.45 16-1 ew
13 lengths behind Dark Wave last time out. A horse who has done well since.
This is a weak race, can place I feel .

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,818 ✭✭✭ste2010

Kings palace is essentially repeating what he did over hurdles last year..will be another flop at the festival.
Very weak albert Bartlett last season when you see who finished in the top 3.
RSA will be (if they go over fences) the top 3 in the 3m novice hurdle in punchestown and Apache stronghold if he goes. Before lots of memories wins tomorrow, you could do no harm and back him at a ludicrous price on betfair for the RSA

    shock horror!
    a familiar old excuse

Race 5 - 3:00pm THE ULTIMA BUSINESS SOLUTIONS HANDICAP HURDLE RACE (CLASS 1) (Listed Race)
The Stewards held an enquiry into the running and riding of PINEAU DE RE (FR), ridden by Daryl Jacob, and trained by Dr Richard Newland, which was held up in rear and appeared to be tenderly ridden before finishing eleventh beaten 66 lengths. The Stewards interviewed the rider and the trainer. They also received a report from the Veterinary Officer, who confirmed that a post-race examination of the gelding during routine testing failed to reveal any abnormalities, and observations from the Handicapper. The rider stated that his instructions were to drop PINEAU DE RE (FR) in, get him settled and try to creep into the race. He added that the gelding ran keenly for the first circuit and got very tired under his big weight. The trainer confirmed the instructions and added that PINEAU DE RE (FR) is always ridden from behind because he is very keen. Having heard their evidence and viewed recordings of the race the Stewards noted their explanations

sure it happens every day of the week no doubt but I miss most of that
