These Islamic states sicken me. Dogs are considered unclean in Islamic Dogma but up until now you could still keep them in private. However newly drafted laws could easily result in 74 lashes for dog owners if they are caught by Irans vigilant 'morality police' catch dog owners.

So for these dog owners they either have to submit their beloved pets to death or risk torture. They truly have a barbaric society.

Other than that, it is very poor when it comes to economics, culture, agreement, dialogue, etc. and its religious views are weird to say the least. What makes it worse are the socalled priests who endorse peasant incompetents and their stupid incompetent regime. Hopefully, the so-called Republic of Iran is in its very last days. And a new Iran can emerge.

If you are poor that is. Rich people drink alcohol all the time in Iran especially the regime, its priests and its paramilitaries. That is very true and insightful. Iran is a very different place to what we see in the media.

What is true: Yes, Iran has very nasty, gangland style elements in its government who are not elected, who are not the most intelligent and who are violent. They enforce cruel and idiotic laws and try to enforce even more. But there's also a moderate part of Iran's government that the people elect and the current president comes from that. Like all countries, there's corruption and the unelected parts hide behind elderly priests who turn a blind eye in and endorse gangland in order to receive their hefty salaries and for Ali Khamenei to remain figurehead king. West Iran is more modern and richer than East Iran. The country is held back from its true potential by voodooism, corruption, bickering within government and isolationist mentalities. Admittedly, its economy depends too much on oil and the regime thinks it can do anything it likes because others need its resources. Compared to its neighbours, Iran is paradise. It is one of the better Middle Eastern countries (not saying it is well run: it is poorly run but its neighbours are much more poorly run and have suffered awful wars: Iraq and Afghanistan being 2). Iran's people are friendly, forward looking, moderate in their religious views and want to interact positively on the world stage. 99% of them hate what unelected, unintelligent elements of government have done and resent them blocking more enlightened intelligent men like Hassan Rouhani and Mohammed Khatami. They also resent people like Fr Khamenei (an intelligent man) selling himself out so as to gain money and power and stooping down to the level of ignoramuses hellbent on ruining Iran to do so. Iran is a military dictatorship in disguise and is fascist yes. But more liberal than Saudi Arabia. Women in Iran are repressed but have more rights than Saudi women. Alcohol consumption, Western music and films, parties and so on are widespread with the rich and Christians often doing what they want. regime members of course can do anything. the wives of regime officials dress as they please and live in luxury. The public image is they are poor and dress like the people are supposed to. Fr Ali Khamenei sees himself as a self-styled pope in charge of a breakaway of a breakaway protestant Christian sect called Shia and he also is the Shah in all but name and is strongly aligned to the military whom he fronts for. His religion is meant to be based on the teachings of god the father, Moses, Jesus and first protestant prophet Mohammed. But he does not follow any of their teachings and instead fronts for a regime more influenced by Hitler, Stalin and other such cult dictators. Iran is a very historical country. To visit and stay out of politics is rewarding. Irish people generally do not have a problem there and the regime are very fond of the IRA (especially dissident Republicans and the Sands family). Irish rebel songs are among the music styles endorsed by the regime. You seem to be neglecting to mention the Shah as the US's puppet, ruling Iran with terror and with rights only for those with privilege.
The revolution was a popular one, same as the one in Cuba.
The regimes be themselves become incredibly corrupt but the fault lies with other states interfering in a countries government for their own ends.
And I don't think there are many that see Shia as a protestant sect, hope your tinfoil hat isn't too tight!
