My view on Rodgers is that he should definitely be given to the Summer. It would be absolute madness to sack him during this season unless things go drastically wrong and we end up in the Championship. We have a solid set up at the club in all areas for the first time in a long time. We have a great youth set up and one or 2 players look like they could be world beaters. We also have a young squad with heaps of potential.

However, Rodgers definitely has his weaknesses. Not signing a proper defensive midfielder by last January was idiotic and lost us the title, imo. But not signing one in the Summer was outright lunacy and could well cost him his job, and rightly so, if its his decision not to bring one in.

I'm no football expert but I would put every penny I make in 2015 on a proper outright DM fixing a large chunk of our defensive problems. I think the likes of Sakho and Moreno would finally settle and flourish. A proper dm covers either full back when they bomb forward, ala Mascherano in 2009 or Matic for Chelsea this year.

I also feel Rodgers' insistence on going with Balotelli up front on his own is a joke. Borini would be a far better option on his own or up top with Balo. How Rodgers cant see this is beyond me. I also think if he lets Suso go he'll regret it and so will the club. He looks like a genuine talent and has a bite to his game that will help him if he can control his temper. He's got serious vision.

just over 6 months ago our greatest season in decades ended (in terms of excitement and general holy shiiteness this could happen type feelings) .. we didnt win anything but for sheer scale of emotions over the final 5 months of the season for me it felt awesome as a lfc fan to experience that ..something it seems that has been forgotten already by many.

other clubs have that every year, not us.. brendan rodgers and his team gave it to us last year, and a lot of ye want him gone because we are not scoring or winning and are playing terrible right now. to see so called fans in here calling for his head 6months on is disgraceful.

or keep chopping and changing managers, who will keep chopping and changing players and we will stay where we have been for decades ...

OR .. give the man who came closer than anyone a bit of fcking breathing room and let him rebuild ,mistakes will be made and have been ... he has proven that he can do it,one slip cost him 6 months ago,he would be a hero now other than that, even if we had the same start this season we have had ... its not his fault danny is out,or luis went,or lovren flopped ... you would think he could forsee all this the way ye slate him . he deserves this season and next to prove last season was not a freak ..

    fan's me hole

You could compare Morinho without strikers last year to Rodgers woes this year, except CFC finished top four. We dont have the squad or the manager to play without a front line.
Part of the reason we don't have that squad is down to Rodgers. Most of the reason we are not scrapping more 1:0's is also down to the manager. How long do you think the owners will accept the status quo, I know how long you want them to give him, but how long do you actually think they will wait for a turn-around?

    Nope nope nopety nope.

We won so many games in the 2nd half of the season that if we literally had the best player in the world in every position it would've scarcely made a difference.

Nothing that happened after January 1st can be blamed for why we we didn't win the league. Our record was as close to perfect as could be expected by any team, never mind one that apparently had a load of weaknesses.

And it was a fracking roller-coaster ride without that type of player, for good or bad! It was pure theatre and put us back in the spot-light with the high scoring games.

Well the approach to the Chelsea game...but that's been done to death.

    Origi in for January.

    Makes sense.

We need a striker and I suspect FSG won't plump up the 30m sterling needed.

It's either we call in Origi or we take a cheap punt on someone with 'good stats' in the Dutch or Belgian or French leagues.

We may very well be out of the CL by January so why would the likes of Cavani (with massive wages) come to us?

Is that not what Origi is?

I would leave Origi in France till the end of the season.

    He is not the answer.

Careful now. You'll be accused by Harry of writing him off.

This is the team I would go with.

    Mignolet

    Manquillo---Skrtel----Toure
    Moreno

    Can

    Henderson
    Lallana

    Sterling

    Borini
    Balotelli

If Henderson isn't fit I'd go with Allen.

But I think Gerrard will start ahead of Can.

Would be a fan of this but johnson and lovren will start no doubt.

I don't mind if we get Origi in January, but only if we get him alongside a quality striker.

To get him on his own would smack of desperation, penny pinching and put ridiculous pressure on a very young player to rescue our season.

Paying an extra few million for his services a few months earlier too is embarrassing, considering we spent over 20m on two strikers a few months ago that both scored a decent haul in stronger leagues than France.

Chelsea went without a striker last season as they supposedly held out for Costa's availability. If only Rodgers was waiting for something similar next summer. By then of course cl will be out the gap most likely

Chelsea had a water tight defence and a plethora of goals from midfield. We have neither.

Would love to see someone big come in but realistically, who is there?

For every great signing (Suarez) there is also a horrendous signing (Carroll). And it's January, so fee's go up. And everybody knows we need badly for that position.

So if we do sign, and I am very pessimistic about it, FSG will have to splash the cash. At least 30m sterling. I just see that as a price that would actually get someone decent and capable.

If we were supposedly in for the likes of Cavani before, surely we would have landed him back before the start of the season?

PSG were never going to sell in the summer when Zlatan was out injured and had no return date.

You should sign Welbeck if he falls out of favour at Arsenal.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,048 ✭✭✭brevity

    Welbeck isn't the answer.

Sturridge injured is a better option than Welbz.

I'd have Welbeck not that he is going anywhere, on the QT I've become a bit of a fan I have to say. That's why I'm quite hot for Origi, he is basically the Belgian version.

That Arkadiusz Milik fella that 8-10 knows about looks very handy for Ajax and Poland but Leverkusen own him.
