For anyone heading up early, the cork intermediates are playing KK before the two matches tomorrow

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 214 ✭✭Pos087

What ye all think about match Tomor. If hoggy and Conor lehaine click cork should just edge. Hoggy is having a great league looks like he lost a stone (which looked like muscl) and his speed is after improving an unbelievable amount.

9 Down at ht. Dublin playing much better than us. They are more physical and were working harder. Their half forwards were dropping deep helping their halfbacks meaning our fowards were always finding space hard to find. Also it created a lot of space for their full towards. Some great ball driven into them caused havoc and left Cahalane in particular exposed.
I expect with the wind we will be dropping puckouts about 30 yards from goal and I think we will get several more goal chances. We had 2 or 3 good ones with limited ball. At least 2 or 3 goals will be needed to get close enough. Hopefully Dublin tire as well and their work rate drops.

I think we are lucky to still be in this. Dublin should have put over a good few more scores. We will get goal chances though and they have to be taken or else we are finished!

Dublin playing very well but we were slightly coming back into it. Everyone needs to up their work rate and fight for every ball.

Still think we can win this which seems crazy being 9 points down at half time!

I think Cork can win the second half, but Dubs seem to have more goals in them. I think if they get 2 more in the second half, it will be out of Cork's reach.

A great fightback to get the one point win! Once we got one goal I thought the momentum would go our way but I worried it might never come.

Dublin had chances to get a few insurance points but they missed so that was a bit of a let off but there was way better fight from cork in the seconds half.I just wish we had this from the start of matches as we can't keep goin to the well everytime.

(As well, it's not good for my heart! :) )

Agreed it was that old chestnut Cork just wanted it more that half. It looked like the dubs plan of dropping their half forwards back to HB line backfired in the 2nd half as Cork backs cleared an awful lot of ball, that combined with corks forwards fighting for every ball.

    Great come back
Showed real spirit still think we need to pose more of a goal threat in general though

great win to get to banish the memory of the tipp collapse. Great to see jbm so animated at the end. need to sort out the backs, gave up way too many chances. harnedy is vital to us

    Outstanding comeback
Spillane made a huge difference when he came in
Harnedy is an legend, the player future captain cork with leadership and drive and skill would be cody type player

Lorcan was outstanding as was Walsh in the second half
Cooper put in great shift and Paudie brilliant goal

Huge win in knowlan park where cork havent won in age
Worry is full back again huge issues and KK or tipp cause cork huge problems in championship here
    Need a full back
Cahalane was solid last quarter but struggling injury
Cork bench half forward quite weak john cronin needs be sub as he has it all bar shooting that can be improved
Hopefully tipp win as cork need huge test and Waterford cork don't need play twice

Hugely pleasing was cork hunger want and desire win even nine down and at last cork take league seriously
Real bonus for cork be final
Cork only have beat Waterford and hope loose munster final as better go back door so as always said start year cork need good league
Outstanding league bar Joyce been injured
If we had him imo real chance all Ireland
With out full back I worry greatly cork
Feel for Dublin and cunningham but he's doing outstanding work them and they will get better and better and made huge improvement in he's short time as manager

Great win, a huge win. Destroyed Dublin at midfield and our half back line was excellent. Cahalane wont do, sorry lads but his hurling is way off, perhaps he was carrying an injury again but Dublin ****ed up big time in the second half by not putting a man on him and hitting ball down to him.
Surely john Cronin is on the panel? we need hard ball winners like him in this team as agains tbetter cuter teams we wont get away with these starts/fade outs as tipp showed in the league already.
Let there be no doubt about no 14 either ffs, paidi o Sullivan is a big game player and will get goals, ofarrell despite being on the panel as long as paidi is simply blown out of it in games like this and totally ineffective.
Mark ellis will make a huge difference to that defence when he is back also.

I think we're massively struggling at full back
Apart from that I actually think we have a great chance this year
Agree Harnedy is worth his weight in gold

No Sean wasn't on it for today
Lawton fine club player no doubt but he's got too many chances and not performed and too light weight in physical battle yet ye makes bench again
Cronin is baffling in jbm praises him hugely after debut v Laois two weeks ago where he was brilliant winning ball working hard aggressive hurling yet not panel
    Unless injured
Spillane made huge difference really aggressive hurler went for goal unlucky but won ball for Paudie goal
There young breed cork hurling craves for
    Needs games
Totally agree full back disaster waiting to happen but not jbm fault in Joyce injured
We have serious issues here hard know how solve it
Luke imo terrific talent had good league and wouldn't say he's gone yet but Paudie definitely as you say ahead him
Good win as if cork play KK league next year least have won here beating dubs
Cork won intermediate hurling game last year also
Great win and there's huge difference in cork now
Expect tipp with weakened team beat Waterford who I still remain convinced by

Any player wants role model seamie harnedy
He was roaring team mates nine down up their game
Has be just has be cork future captain
An absolute legend player who plays real values work ethic hunger desire

Horgan had good game but still fades and missed three soft points
Needs be consistent level he can be
    Huge huge win cork hurling
Landers power play coming in to effective as despite poor ist half cork dominated second half physical wise imo
    Ellis huge loss cork

    My only fear too
If we had full back I'd have no fears for Cork
Were miles ahead limerick and Waterford imo
Clare be tough but we can beat them
KK and tipp are the two dangers
    Harnedy is sensational

Immense credit to jbm for showing a change of attuide to the league to actually unlike in the past want to win it
He's expression at the end said it all

Bit of a nightmare playing Waterford twice in the coming weeks
Do cork show their full hand in the final
It is a Tough call as cork under this management lost three out four finals so imo need to win but same time no benefit showing their full hand before they meet in May

Cork should play the likes of cronin and Spillane and aidan Ryan also needs game time to cover centre back if needed.
Cork half back line overall was poor but I won't blame management as Ellis and Murphy were too huge losses. Kearney is a fine club player but imo struggled badly at times today at corner back and with everyone fit cork have better corner backs available.
Daniel kearney had a fine game. It was a Great win when cork had three championship starters missing today.

Lads, I was trying to listen to 103fm on the way home, reception wasn't great but did Johnny Crowley mention that someone had left the panel?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 214 ✭✭Pos087

Fair play to jmb for bringing the sweeper back in the second half but surely we should of had a sweeper in the first half against the wind. He also needs to be more ruthless cahalan is not working out. If Cronin comes back into the team it could be the firing of him. Hurling at club level is in big trouble. One junior hurler in Ellis missing and we in big trouble.

    Firing of who???
Am I correct in saying you think cronin comes back in jbm should be sacked or have I miss interpretation on my part???
    Apologies if so

As for Ellis I was never fan at start but he'd been immense last year deserves he's place
Junior hurling nothing do with it if performances up mark as harnedy also junior club hurler
In fact some senior intermediate higher grade players I don't think up to the mark like kearney corner back, lawton, Darren Mccarthy as a forward etc

I agree jbm needs be ruthless with full back problems but needs shake up panel and drop lawton and will kearney and Darren Mccarthy unless he's a sub keeper
These lads have had chances and imo not done enough
Likes Stephen Murphy JOHN cronin and Shane o keoffe much better potential imo

Hey. I think if he brings Cronin back in and leaves cahalan where he is. we will have the next 2 summers off and that will lead to his going. I not saying being a junior hurler is holding him back i saying señor club hurlers (full backs) are well below the level.

    Hello neighbours in Cork

I'm from Waterford and living in the UK for the last year....I watched the Waterford game today and got geed up as i thought it's the best Deise team i've seen in ages. Whats the thoughts there ? Am i right or have i just not seen enough Hurling lately?

Waterford are moving in the right direction but in my opinion won't be play in September for a few years at best. Gleason could be a great hurler but made a lot of mistakes today that experience will help with and while Morris shannahan is prob great to have on the panel for his passion and getting the crowd going once in awhile he is never going to score more than a couple of point a game. On a positive for Waterford they have a great spirit and this will carry them a good bit

Fair points but win or loose in two years he's gone as he doesn't want another term
Totally agree full back play cork been dire last few years at club level and we have real real problems and anyone think o Neill cahalane or Mcdonnell do job there need look old games
Cahalane would if fit but struggling with injury
Next week challenge v KK cork have play fringe players

Has to but I wouldn't be so sure as Kearney imo fine club player never been on panel
Killan Murphy shouldn't been dropped last year
Some cork lads on panel being carried imo despite others not getting game time
    Sean any ideas full back????
    It's huge worry
