Hes some clown if that's the case. All he had to do was show up spend 5 mins talking crap and public opinion would have guaranteed him the job.

    You could be right.

would have some sympathy for Cleary if that's true, God forbid we'd appoint a fella who wants to do things his way

Yeah, Because taking crap from a board of auld codgers, and public opinion will create a winning team.
I don't think he wants the job that much

I'd have sympathy about picking his own back room team. That's more than fair. But refusing to do an interview is ridiculous.

Was at east cork final yesterday where dungourney eventually out powered st itas, Harnedy is some force of nature but showed one great player not enough every time he got the ball he was swarmed by 3/4 players who restricted him to only 3 points from play. For dungourney several good performances at different times of the match griffin a stormer when he come on the backs all played well with McCarthy doing a fine marking job on Harnedy, bill Ahern storming second half with Motherway and Denny mom at midfield winning that battle hands down.

Any body at Aghada match were Dripsey the better team as everybody thought aghada would win

How did Ciarán O brien do
    I feel he's cork potential

true, but he went through it 2 years ago so knows what the boards "interviews" are like.

true, but he went through it 2 years ago so knows what the boards "interviews" are like.

That's a cop out though. An interview process is the right way for the board to do things. If they didn't, people would give out about jobs for the boys' club.

It sounds to me that either he doesn't think the county board will give him the job and will use the interview as their reasoning, or he doesn't want the job and these demands are a way of avoiding it without having to say it.

Hes some clown if that's the case. All he had to do was show up spend 5 mins talking crap and public opinion would have guaranteed him the job.

I'm sorry now but how is he a clown
Cork some attuide beggars all belief
Has the last four years etc showed anything that cork need a cultural change
Even Tony considine said it hurling cork attuide has to change

So I'm sorry now but days going in saying what look good get job should be gone
Clearly was right absoultey right and fair play him he goes in he's term
And it's mission intent unlike last management who once comprised on dualism meant from day one went in always going to fail on the field of play

Clearly isn't having an ego it's if you want me with my records I do it by my way my structure etc
Warm weather camps if needed my back room team etc he's right
He's absolutely right not to go for interview imo when should got the job last time
He also just a guess could have concerns ccb huge influence management committee

No need for power point and visions job etc in he's case he's record speaks for itself

I like Ronan McCarthy and always felt he was only one last set up i rated but I feel while lot offer coaching Fact with counihan and this term poor success rate not what cork needs now and fresh whole new change is needed
McCarthy club record nothing like cleary
McCarthy should be involved cork football down the line but the time isn't right now for him new management

Huge opportunity for cork football as like I said all year didn't belive the hype with mayo and they got Dublin cold but the replay mayo were well beaten and mayo are going to go in to decline
I don't think dual management works and mayo it hasn't and I said this many times and interesting read Quirke kerry say felt mayo management were poor tactics replay
    He was right
Mayo management great football men but at senior I think they will struggle
There's a huge gap between kerry and Dublin and the rest next year but huge opportunity for cork to be top four

One of kerry or Dublin will loose but only one great manager from gavin and fitzmaurice can win so loosing next week won't make gavin or fitzmaurice bad
Truth is there miles ahead of the rest with only harte to challenge and possibly next year Kevin Walsh
Gallagher is good but he's great team are old

Best of luck to cork camoige today
I think they will win and corkery cahalane Thompson etc real leaders
And of course they have excellent management
Haven look unstoppable for the county now and I hope they win but Ballincollig fair play didn't give up the title easily
Newestown I said it then the other day would take some beating in take good team beat them
There a fine side who I think will win the county hurling

How did Ciarán O brien do
    I feel he's cork potential

Himself and Motherway marked each other cancelled each other out first half Motherway got on top of him second half with Denny winning other battle he did not stand out like Harnedy

Imagine that a manager looking to select his own backroom team as opposed to having people imposed upon him...........its attitudes like this that have cork light years behind serious counties like Dublin, Kerry, Kilkenny et al
The interviews are a ****ing joke, the other three cnadidates cv's put together wouldn't stand up to clearys ffs
Hhow in the name of god ronan McCarthy can even be considered for this job after how cork have gone for the last 3 years he has been involved, the interview process just like with the Cuthbert appointment is used as a excuse by the board to appoint who they want, I have no doubt McCarthy like Cuthbert will do an excellent powerppoint but wont get cork anywhere

Super win for the ladies!!! Especially given all the newcomers on display, I think something like 1/3 of the team making their final debut. Awesome defence only allowing Galway 2 or 3 points from play.
All Ireland Champions again!!!! Number 26!!! Hopefully next year will see us top of the pile at 27!!
    Cork 1-13 v 0-09 Galway.

Very good first half. Poor start to the second as Galway really began to motor and got to within a point but the girls didn't panic, simply kept playing and got their just rewards. Cotter, Corkery and co yet again proved what fantastic players they are.

The ladies are really showing the men how its done this year, hopefully the double will come in two weeks when the outstandingly brilliant Cork ladies football team grace Croker!

brilliant stuff. Cotter and Gemma O'Conner were incredible today. Aoife Murrays last game today too.

Great win. Powerful powerful finish. Well done to the girls.

Outstanding win for cork and immense tenacity and hunger and want and leadership they showed to beat a very good resilient Galway side.
champions die hard though and all through the game cork when the ist touch let them down at time, they always won second phase possession and true work rate and hunger turn over ball after ball
    Like kk champions have grit.

I knew cork would win as I posted beforehand as league championship Galway means nothing in the sense all ireland cork as I said the Thompson, corkery, cahalane, all had leadership and sullivan last year player of the match made a huge difference as a sub.
Corkery showed why cork won, not by her standards her best game but when the need was greatest and cork needed direction like the really really really great i mean the great great sports people like the ruby Walsh, Roy keane, the Sonia sullivan, Brian Driscoll, greatness always prevails in adversity, and what a goal, superb courage and want to make the block and showed superb skills and ruthless execution to score a brilliant goal.
Wonderful to hear the banks being played and thank God for the ladies in football and hurling and Murray is a brilliant brilliant coach and equalled the dubs record and as therese said next year the three in a row is on.

That's the attuide of cork camoige, just won an all ireland but like kk next year will want to win it again.
Again a legacy of success in camoige as Cork have the right attuide.
The men could learn so much from the ladies.
Gemma o connor was brilliant and absoultey like Brian cocoran display v offaly in 99 at centre back imo the greatest display by a cork centre back in hurling since then.
She was every where. With out a doubt has to be player of the match.

Congratulations to cork, the panel and all the management.
Roll on the football and yes cork will win that also as Cork have real real leadership in that team with an outstanding coach in Ryan also their.

Very disrespectful of the Sunday game to cut away from the Captains speech

They wouldnt do that to any of the mens teams

Other than that a fantastic display from the ladies!

They have done it before - I remember it happening a few times.

Some great analysis and post match reaction though, normally none of it

O Connor had a great game sweeping - but for a team that had something like 13 players leave the panel last year and beaten twice by Galway already this season, it was a remarkable performance.

Rena and Briege on 15 All Ireland medals so far this year - hope to God they beat Dublin, only to put another one over McGonigle

3 very good nominations for player of the match, but thought Gemna would get it, Orla was outstanding as well though.

Venue change - County Minor Hurling Championship Finals switched to Mallow.

'Minors on Mondays’ - Rebel Óg Central will host their County Minor Hurling Championship Finals sponsored by Carrigaline Court Hotel on Monday evening in Mallow - Premier 2 MHC Final at 6:45pm followed by the Premier I MHC Final at 8:10pm.

I seem to remember somebody here touting the merits of Duhallow and English's leadership and coaching ability. Stall the digger.
Were it not for a goal scored against the run of play this Duhallow outfit would have been humiliated.
Haven't seen such a bedraggled bunch of senior footballers in yonks, five changes announced at the start, they had all kinds of numbers on their backs from 17 to 28 and nobody knew what to do with the flipping ball other than to hand pass it to the nearest lad in an orange coloured jersey. I wont mention any names but how come there was no player from Millstreet or Cullen on that selection?
Ross will test the best left in Cork. All of them know what to do with the ball, they defend in numbers, tackle well and scored 1-15 from play with just 1 point from a long range free by full back Brian Shanahan.
Just 4 wides over the sixty minutes and as usual John Hayes conducted the orchestra from No 11, while John O Rourke with No 15 on his back hit 1-5.
I was also impressed with the unsung Alan Jennings at No 10 who scored 3 and had a hand in many more give and go scores.

Millstreet on relegation trouble without Vaughan and Crowley this year probably don't have anyone good enough for the team. Same goes for Cullen who haven't pulled up any trees in the junior grade recentlu

I'd be very surprised if the Selection Committee are restricting condidates on their backroom team. You would obviously hope that Pat Flanagan will be retained but as far as I know, JBM and Cuthbert had a free reign on selecting their selectors and back-room staff. There would be a massive reaction if things were changed and I'd be very surprised if Coleman, Johno and Nick would accept this.

It would obviously be better if Cleary went along with the interview process but I can fully understand if he says that he did an interview 2 years ago and the CM and Sec were on the committee then so they know what he can do. That interview process was clearly a farce.

Frank will probably be against the involvement of ex players and he may try and be awkward - we know that he can apply the rule book and gerrymander a meeting to get his way.

If Cleary is prepared to do the job then it will be suicide to snub him for the 2nd time.

The players have said no to Ronan McCarthy and Ciaran O Sullivan combination ...I think the dogs in the street know that our best man is John Cleary ...the CCB know that ....he wants the job in his terms the CCB want him to take it on there terms ...if it was any other county they would say John its yours what do you need to make this a success we will be with you all the way ...but this is the CCB we are dealing with.

    Agree on that point.

But the showcase of minor hurling is being devalued considerably in the first place by playing on a Monday night. What are Rebel Og thinking. Apart from anything else, a lot of these guys are Leaving Cert and have school the next day.
Play the finals on a Saturday afternoon (or a Friday night) and give the winners an opportunity to enjoy their success and the losers a chance to recover.
