    I think it was the louis theroux paedophiles episode that was talking about the difference between a paedophile and a child molester. The men themselves said there was a line that they couldn't help but cross because they had an urge. It was uncomfortable to watch and even though a lot of them admitted they were in the wrong, they wanted to be sterilised because they knew they'd do it again.

    absolutely nothing other than they are both completely unconnected sexual preferences

    to suggest padofiles can be cured belongs in the same school of taught that religion can cure gays...

    this is not to say I support pedofiles....I cant bring myself to...innocent children and ive young cousins....couldn't stomach the idea

    It was interesting to hear some of the men state that the treatments and counselling available have very little impact, they're only designed to try and teach the person to suppress their thoughts and fantasies.

    While other treatment methods like conversion therapy have been completely discredited, so maybe if they're willing to undergo it castration could be a viable option for some.

    What we need is someone like King Solomon that can sit and preside over people caught for various offences and decide on a whim what to do with them.

    Since Solomon is long gone I volunteer for the duty, for a handsome sum of silver and gold.
    Remember the time he ordered a baby cut in half? Always cracks me up..

    I just don't, in very many cases see the point.

    Humans as a group have spent years saying survival of the fittest etc.
    We know about dwindling resources and over population and such yet we spend all our extra energy to try and recover these people.
    In a very many cases nothing ever changes.

    I just don't see the point in what a very un-shameful and repeat paedo can offer society, same as a multiple rapist, murderer etc.

    Seems like there's a misunderstanding ITT. A paedophile isn't necessarily a child molester. It's not like paedophiles chose to be born attracted to children, however child molesters of course made the decision to commit what is honestly the worst crime possible besides murder. A paedophile who views that type of porn should receive the worst punishment possible though.

    Meh, moving on. Interesting though just as on the other rapist thread it was not his first offence and while it was a minimum of a 4 and a half year sentence it still seems a little light.

    I'm not sure these people can be rehabilitated/reformed/cured or what ever you would like to call it.

    I was also reading that Lost prophets singer Ian Watkins wants to be moved to a Gen Pop prison to be closer to his family - now normally I would think that with all of the sick crap this guy has done he has lost the right to make any sort of requests, his in-human behaviour should have lost him the right for any humane treatment what so ever.

    All things considered though I hear Falkland Prison is nice this time of year

    If they ever get released im sure "local justice " would take care of them .

    I remember watching a louie theoreux show on pedophiles before . What they have done is unforgivable . They are mentally twisted and insane and have no part to play in everyday life.
