Ah yeah, it's fine to say a man has to grow a pair of balls ain't it? Sure just more casual sexism against men, tis all fine like! Imagine telling a woman to be more feminine and less confident, you'd be be laughed out of the ball
TBH, this tangent really has little to do with with this thread and skirts dangerously close to going down misogynistic arguments.

We're discussing feminism, not women. Despite what some of the pro-feminist posters here have claimed, the two are not synonymous.

There is no denying that there is today a lot of confusion in what constitutes male or female roles or character. Should a man be a caring, needy, soft individual, or a confident SOB? Should a woman be a confident, career orientated vamp or a delicate little princess? Or something else.

Whenever we think we know the answer or feel that we've moved on from the old stereotypes, something like 50 Shades of Grey comes out and reminds us that things are a lot more mixed up than that, but this ultimately is not the topic here.

At best is that feminism wants that women can choose be either, yet not suffer the consistences of that choice. And man or woman, there is always a price to choice. Otherwise, let's not get distracted.

As an hobby I work at trying to get people from disadvantaged communities into college. Once their in they usually do well and get embark on a good career path upon graduation. Now some of these come from homes with alcoholic parents, drug using parents, abusive parents or no parents or long term place of care.

Not one of those people I have met has demanded that there be a quota in CEO positions (or any other position) allocated for them. They realise you get out what you put in. Some make it and become lawyers, scientists, run businesses ect and some who don't work as hard don't make it.

Now if anyone has any problems getting to the top it's them but yet some people think that you should be awarded a job based on your sex. Seriously work hard and you'll get it, don't and you won't but don't ask for favors because of your gender.

I do agree. I just hate phrases like "man up" and "grow a pair of balls". It's also asking men to change for women when in fact they shouldn't have to change at all. I know it's a little off topic (and nothing to do with feminism, it's not feminists that usually say that sort of thing) I just let my annoyance get the better of me is all.

Since the last page or so has been jokes about feminism, repeating points made earlier, and about how annoying phrases like "man up" and "grow a pair of balls" are, I think we can say that this thread has pretty much run it's course and isn't doing anyone any favours by remaining open.
